Drivers operate mixer trucks capable of carrying loads up to 78,000 pounds, and their responsibilities extend beyond driving to include pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, performing routine maintenance like fueling and cleaning, and assisting with equipment repairs when necessary. Being classified as safety sensitive, this role requires adherence to Department of Transportation regulations as well as company-specific operational standards. This ensures that both the product and the work environment remain compliant with safety and quality policies at all times. \n\nAdditionally, the job requires coordination with customers and dispatchers, which includes obtaining delivery receipts, managing fluctuating start and stop times based on customer demand, and maintaining professional and courteous behavior to foster positive customer relations. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Valid class A or class B CDL license
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in operating a mixer truck
  • Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections
  • Ability to safely operate large mixer trucks with 78,000-pound capacity
  • Physical capability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds)
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations
  • Ability to maintain clean and well-maintained equipment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid class A or class B CDL license
  • Minimum of 1 year experience operating a mixer truck
  • Ability to safely operate heavy vehicles
  • Strong attention to detail for vehicle inspection and maintenance
  • Good physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds

  • Ability to use GPS and other technological equipment for route management
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Job Duties

  • Operate and drive a mixer truck in a safe and efficient manner adhering to Department of Transportation (DOT) and company rules and regulations
  • Visually inspect the consistency of concrete in the mixer
  • Provide routine maintenance of equipment including fueling, cleaning, tire and light inspection, checking and adding fluids as needed
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations or damage to the mixer truck
  • Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered product
  • Drive trucks with capacities of 10 yards of concrete
  • Use water hoses, brushes and other cleaning supplies to maintain a clean mixer truck
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections
  • Complete and maintain a DOT daily log book
  • Assist maintenance with repairs as needed
  • Load twenty, forty-pound bags of ice into mixer when needed
  • Read or interpret maps or GPS devices to determine vehicle routes
  • Operate equipment such as truck cab computers, CB radios, phones or GPS equipment to exchange information
  • Adjust daily start and stop times based on customer demand
  • Maintain good customer relations by acting in a professional and courteous manner
  • Assist in training of co-workers as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned
