Job Description

CareVet is a dynamic network of veterinary hospitals dedicated to providing top-tier care for pets and fostering exceptional experiences for their team members. Established with a focus on practice legacy, comprehensive team support, and community involvement, CareVet operates veterinary practices that emphasize both high-quality veterinary medicine and collaborative, compassionate environments. With a commitment to evolving veterinary practices, the network ensures that veterinarians have access to the latest medical technologies and career development resources. CareVet specifically seeks to support both the personal and professional growth of veterinarians through benefits such as personalized 1:1 career coaching, flexible schedules, and comprehensive compensation packages.

Our Family Vet, a proud member of the CareVet network located in Kilgore, Texas, is a mixed animal hospital primarily serving small animals (90% of caseload) but also providing extensive farm animal and equine services representing about 10% of the cases. This longstanding practice has been serving the Kilgore community and surrounding areas since 1984. The hospital is committed to providing outstanding veterinary care through a team-oriented approach, recognizing the significance of pets as beloved family members. The team stays abreast of modern veterinary medicine to offer the best possible care, ensuring an enjoyable and fulfilling work environment.

The role of the full-time mixed animal Veterinarian at Our Family Vet is tailored for experienced professionals who value a community-driven, personalized approach to veterinary care. This position offers a guaranteed combined base salary and bonus totaling $200,000 in the first year, giving prospective candidates the option to customize their compensation package to suit their preferences for stable income and performance incentives. The position stands out for its exceptional work-life balance: no weekend shifts, the clinic closes over lunch, and last appointments end by 4:30 p.m. This schedule supports a fulfilling personal life outside clinical duties while allowing the veterinarian to practice high-quality medicine.

Veterinarians in this role will benefit from a supportive clinic atmosphere, including production bonus plans, clinical assistance during practice, and opportunities to grow the large animal and equine services segment if desired. The hospital’s equine services include advanced offerings such as equine MRI, elective and emergency surgeries, reproductive care, dental care, laboratory services, and colic treatment. On the small animal side, the practice covers wellness care, nutrition, diagnostics, surgery, dental care, and end-of-life services. The position encourages a team-oriented mindset with collaborative work alongside experienced support staff and fellow veterinarians.

The benefits package offers numerous perks beyond salary, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, paid life and disability insurance, and generous pet care perks. There are also financial planning resources, an employee assistance program to support personal well-being, paid time off linked to both base and production earnings, access to vacation programs specifically for doctors, and paid time and allowances for professional development. CareVet’s Ultimate CarePackage embodies a holistic approach to career satisfaction, combining compensation, career support, health benefits, and lifestyle balance. This comprehensive package makes the role particularly appealing to veterinarians seeking stability, growth, and quality of life in their professional careers.
