The Operations Manager role at Transdev in Milwaukee is a critical leadership position focused on overseeing the daily rail operations of the city's streetcar system. This full-time role offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $77,000 to $95,000, based on experience, along with a comprehensive benefits package including vacation, sick days, holidays, retirement plans, medical, dental, vision coverage, life insurance, and disability options. The successful candidate will be entrusted with managing and supervising transit operators, dispatch personnel, and service delivery teams, ensuring smooth and efficient transit operations in a federally regulated environment.

Key to this role is the management of daily dispatch operations, service monitoring, employee attendance and scheduling, and collaboration with city officials and regulatory bodies such as the Federal Transit Administration and State Department of Transportation. The Operations Manager oversees compliance with company policies and federal, state, and local regulations, and plays a significant role in safety coordination, including accident investigation support and safety goal implementation. This position requires a hands-on approach, including the ability to step in and operate transit routes if necessary, and the capacity to manage multiple departments as needed.

This role demands a strong leader with at least two to three years of transit supervisory experience, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels, clients, union representatives, and the public. Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Assumes first-line supervision of location employees
  • ensures company policies and procedures are followed
  • have direct interface with the City of Milwaukee
  • FTA/State DOT oversight exposure
  • coordinates daily transit operations' dispatching and in-service monitoring
  • completes necessary daily and/or weekly reports for company and customer
  • tracks and maintains employee attendance system and processes driver and operations staff vacation requests
  • maintains/orders necessary driver and staff uniforms
  • monitors and evaluates operations activities including vehicle on-time statistics, missed runs, customer complaint data, accident data, and road call data
  • assists with supervision of location staff providing coaching and guidance
  • fully trained and capable of running other departments in the event of a vacancy
  • in conjunction with the Safety Manager, ensures all federal, state, local and company recordkeeping requirements are met
  • may assist in accident/incident investigation providing onsite assistance and support to safety and training personnel
  • coordinates with safety and training departments to ensure all safety goals and directives are met
  • ensures all manifests are performed accurately and timely
  • manages dispatch and operator schedules and validates pay hours
  • assigns manifests and documents assignments manually and in specified computer systems
  • assists with operator hiring process and administers discipline including recommendations for suspension or termination
  • oversees activities and supervises driver's room
  • documents attendance and enforces uniform policy
  • counsels employees
  • performs other management requests or directives related to overall Transdev function
  • maintains appropriate license requirement to drive a route as necessary
