The role available is for a Prep Cook/Dishwasher, which offers a competitive hourly wage range of $18 to $20. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who are passionate about contributing to a service-oriented environment where daily tasks contribute directly to the health and happiness of senior residents. The Prep Cook/Dishwasher will work closely with the kitchen team to ensure food preparation processes maintain the highest standards of hygiene, safety, and quality. Duties include monitoring and recording water temperature and sanitizer solution levels, assisting in light food preparation tasks such as soups, salads, and basic grill work, and adhering to strict sanitary guidelines to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment. In addition, this role involves operating and maintaining dishwashing equipment, sanitizing production areas, organizing cleaning supplies, and occasionally supporting other kitchen functions as needed. It is a hands-on position that requires attention to detail, teamwork, and a genuine dedication to supporting the mission of Mercy Retirement and Care Center. Individuals in this role will help create a safe and efficient kitchen environment which is essential to delivering excellent dining experiences for the residents. Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- high school diploma or equivalent
- past experience in food preparation highly preferred
- experience with kitchen organization
- good communication skills in the English language, oral and written
- ability to occasionally assist with other kitchen duties
- completion of a background screen including possible drug test, TB test, physical and fingerprinting depending on state and local guidelines
- first aid and CPR training may be required in certain jurisdictions
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- past experience in food preparation highly preferred

Job Duties
- Monitors and records water temperature and sanitizer solution levels
- notifies management if levels are not correct
- assists in light food preparation on the line including soups, salads, grill, vegetable and meat preparation and safe food handling
- follows strict sanitary guidelines and environmental requirements
- sets up and breaks down dishwashing machine including arms, screens, traps, and baskets
- cleans inside and outside of dishwashing equipment
- checks to ensure it is operating properly
- cleans and sanitizes production equipment, work surfaces, ware-washing system, garbage cans, and kitchen areas
- maintains storage room for cleaning supplies and chemicals
- keeps storage room clean, stocked, labeled, and organized
- performs other duties as assigned
