This position involves interacting with guests to enhance their stay by providing excellent customer service, product knowledge, and a welcoming presence. The locations include Kālēpa's Store, an essential shop near the lobby offering groceries and artisanal island delights that reflect the local culture; Hale Manu, an upscale boutique featuring Hawaiian-made gifts, designer sunglasses, jewelry, and fashion; The Lava Shack, a poolside shop with swimwear, snacks, and beach toys; and various special events, pop-up locations, and merchandise carts that bring added convenience and magic to guests across the resort property. \n\nMerchandise Cast Members play an active role in creating joyful, memorable shopping experiences for guests by greeting visitors, answering questions, suggesting merchandise, and conducting transactions efficiently and accurately. The position requires versatility to work indoors or outdoors, assist with stock reception and delivery, and support multiple retail formats including carts and special events. The role also offers opportunities to engage in specialized activities such as pin trading, hat embroidery, leather personalization, and grocery deliveries directly to guest rooms. \n\nThis is a part-time position that requires availability on weekends and holidays, with training hours that may extend up to 40 hours per week. The pay rate is $29.17 per hour, reflecting the value placed on the important contribution Merchandise Cast Members make to the resort’s guest experience. Job Requirements

  • Follow Open/Close procedures for cashiering role, including counting out and balancing funds at beginning and end of shifts
  • Follow proper cash handling procedures
  • Adhere to loss prevention guidelines
  • Must be available to work all Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays
  • Must be able to work up to 40 hours per week during training
  • May be asked to work in specialized areas with additional training
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors supporting retail or cart locations

Job Qualifications

  • Basic mathematical skills
  • Sales experience or comfort with suggestive selling
  • Knowledge of Hawaiian or Japanese language preferred
  • Ability to follow Open/Close procedures for cashiering role
  • Ability to adhere to loss prevention guidelines
  • Willingness to learn specialized duties with additional training if needed
  • Strong guest service and communication skills

Job Duties

  • Enhance the guest experience during their stay through strong product awareness, proactive selling techniques and a positive demeanor
  • Work indoors and outdoors supporting either a retail location or a merchandise cart
  • Approach all guests proactively and offer options to increase revenue opportunities
  • Greet and thank each guest as they enter and exit the location, assist with directions, event schedules, provide samples and other requested information
  • Process merchandise transactions following proper POS procedures, including selling bottled liquor at select locations
  • Share pin trading knowledge, embroider guest names on hats and engrave names on leather items
  • Deliver grocery items to guest rooms throughout the resort
  • Unload and process merchandise to meet or exceed productivity and visual standards
  • Straighten and restock products accurately, communicate out-of-stock items and ensure sales fixtures are fully stocked throughout the day
