The Member Service Representative (MSR) role at GreenState Credit Union is vital as the front-line face of the organization, responsible for delivering professional, accurate, and responsive services to both members and staff. This regular full-time position operates primarily out of West Des Moines, Iowa, with scheduled hours from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday and limited hours on Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Individuals in this role embody GreenState’s core values by providing exceptional member interactions, consistently adhering to service standards and maintaining confidentiality of member information. The MSR performs a variety of daily transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, check cashing, loan and credit card payments, bonds, official checks, money orders, and more. Beyond transactional duties, the MSR plays a critical role in building lasting member relationships by identifying financial needs and directing members to appropriate products or specialized departments like Wealth Management, Commercial, Mortgage, or Insurance services when necessary.

This role requires a highly detail-oriented approach, integrity, teamwork, and a commitment to continuously improving service quality. The MSR also contributes to the credit union's community engagement through participation in service organizations and credit union-sponsored events, enhancing GreenState’s presence and impact locally. With a pay range of $17.39 to $20.33 per hour and the opportunity for monthly incentives, this position offers a competitive compensation package combined with a progressive benefits plan. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Cash handling experience
  • Customer service experience
  • Sales experience preferred
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Must be bondable
  • Reliable punctual attendance
  • Ability to work scheduled hours including Saturdays
  • Proficiency with computer applications
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to develop and maintain effective team relationships
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Cash handling, sales, and customer service experience desired
  • Must be bondable
  • Punctual and reliable attendance with willingness to work overtime as necessary.

Job Duties

  • Adheres to the Credit Union Service Standards in carrying out GreenState's mission and vision
  • Demonstrates a positive member service focus at all times, greeting members and guests with a smile and eye contact, using their name and thanking them for their business
  • Demonstrates teamwork in interactions with coworkers and completion of duties
  • Ensures confidentiality of member and account information
  • Supports a diverse and inclusive work environment
  • Makes weekly outbound service calls to members
  • Answers member questions or refers members to appropriate departments or supervisors
  • Assists with member account discrepancies, statement problems, and complaints, escalating as necessary
  • Performs member transactions including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, check cashing, loan and credit card payments, and more
  • Builds member relationships by recognizing their financial needs and referring them to specialized departments
  • Maintains a satisfactory balancing record
  • Educates members and staff on the features and benefits of all products and services
  • Refers products and services to achieve team goals
  • Accepts and examines checks for endorsements and negotiability
  • Processes mail and night deposit transactions
  • Completes all required forms and participates in opening and closing procedures
  • Balances and reconciles cash drawers and manages vault funds
  • Assists in security procedures with access to office keys and combinations
  • Balances and maintains coin machines and cash recyclers
  • Participates in community service and credit union-sponsored events.
