Job Description

This position is with a reputable credit union committed to delivering outstanding financial services to its members. Credit unions are member-owned financial cooperatives that prioritize providing personalized, community-focused banking services such as savings, checking accounts, loans, and other financial products. This particular credit union has established itself as a trusted resource, combining financial expertise with a commitment to member satisfaction and community development. It operates in a cooperative fashion, meaning its primary goal is to serve its members rather than maximize profits. The organization values integrity, teamwork, and innovation, and is dedicated to offering superior member service while adhering to applicable regulations and security standards.

The role offered is for a Member Service Representative focused on sales and account management within the credit union's branch network. The primary objective of this position is to establish new memberships and foster growth in existing member accounts through consultative selling and relationship building. The representative assesses members' financial needs, applies appropriate credit products tailored to those needs, and proactively cross-sells additional products and services. This role requires a strong customer service orientation, a thorough understanding of credit union products and policies, and excellent communication skills.

In this position, daily responsibilities include opening and closing member accounts, processing debit card requests, handling stop payments, wire transfers, check orders, and special account instructions, as well as general maintenance and transaction research. The representative plays a pivotal role in delivering exceptional service by adhering to credit union standards, supporting branch operations, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements such as the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). Furthermore, this role includes responsibility for accurate data entry concerning member records and transactions, ensuring documentation completeness to protect the credit union’s interests, and meeting or exceeding established sales goals through effective cross-selling.

The position reports to the Branch Manager and involves frequent interaction with members and internal departments, both face to face and via telephone. Strong teamwork and a consultative sales approach are essential to meeting organizational goals. The role also demands the capability to maintain confidentiality, work independently, and operate effectively under pressure while balancing multiple priorities. Physical requirements include the ability to manipulate wrist and hand movements, extended periods working at a workstation, and clear communication skills for effective interactions.

Ideal candidates will have at least a high school diploma or GED, one year of experience in assessing member needs, with some background in financial, banking, or credit union settings preferred. The position offers an opportunity to grow professionally within a supportive credit union environment while delivering value-added financial services and fostering long-term member relationships.
