Job Description

American Family Care (AFC) is one of the largest and most trusted primary and urgent care companies in the United States, known for providing accessible and high-quality healthcare services seven days a week on a walk-in basis. AFC specializes in the episodic treatment of acute illnesses and injuries, workers' compensation, and occupational medicine, delivered through state-of-the-art centers that are equipped with onsite laboratories and in-house x-ray capabilities to ensure comprehensive patient care. The company's vast network supports a mission of making healthcare convenient and affordable for patients across the country. AFC is also the parent company of AFC Franchising, LLC, and this particular position works directly with a franchised business location, meaning the specific job duties and benefits could vary slightly between franchise locations.

The role of a Front Desk Medical Receptionist at AFC is crucial to the smooth operation of the facility. This position is focused on ensuring that patients are efficiently checked in and out, their insurance details are accurately verified, payments collected in a timely manner, and patient records maintained meticulously. The receptionist acts as the first point of contact for patients, providing positive and professional patient relations that enhance the overall patient experience. Additionally, the role involves managing patient flow within the clinic to reduce wait times and improve operational efficiency. This is a customer service-oriented position that also requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to handle financial transactions such as payments and billing inquiries responsibly.

Working in a healthcare setting like AFC requires a balance of empathy, professionalism, and efficiency. The receptionist prepares the clinic for the day by reviewing the facility and opening systems, registering new patients, updating records, and handling insurance verification with precision. The role also includes responding promptly to patient needs, assisting with follow-up appointments, and ensuring that medical documentation requests are fulfilled accurately. On a daily basis, the receptionist must perform closing procedures including balancing patient charges and securing financial assets. Given the nature of the healthcare industry, a well-groomed appearance and clear, articulate communication skills are essential for success in this position.

This job offers a great small business work environment with flexible scheduling options to promote work-life balance. Employees benefit from a comprehensive package that includes paid time off, health insurance, dental insurance, and retirement benefits, among others. These perks contribute to making AFC a supportive and rewarding workplace for individuals looking to build a career in healthcare administration. The position is ideal for candidates with a high school diploma or equivalent, basic computer proficiency, and a commitment to excellent patient care and administrative accuracy.
