Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience within a medical office or billing department preferred
  • Knowledge of patient billing and medical terminology preferred
  • Excellent keyboard skills
  • Requires proficiency in a Windows based computer environment and Microsoft Office products
  • Accuracy and dependability required

Job Duties

  • Greet and communicate with patients via phone or in person in a courteous and professional manner identifying themselves and their department
  • Answer telephones in a timely, courteous, and professional manner utilizing appropriate scripting
  • Process calls to ensure patients are transferred to the appropriate staff member or provider in a timely manner
  • Schedule patient appointments based on department protocols to maximize provider productivity
  • Perform patient registration, insurance verification, copay and point of service collections
  • Manage pre-certifications, prior authorizations, and referrals
  • Prepare charts and manage incoming and outgoing faxes
  • Provide clerical support to providers and staff
