Job Requirements

  • High school graduate
  • ability and willingness to provide excellent customer service to patients, colleagues, and vendors
  • ability to work independently and accurately
  • ability to work well in a busy environment

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • excellent customer service skills
  • proficiency with Windows-based computer applications
  • ability to accurately transcribe and enter data
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to work independently and as a team member
  • experience in a healthcare or customer service environment preferred

Job Duties

  • Greet incoming patients using friendly, respectful communication
  • obtain and document up-to-date demographic and insurance information
  • accept and document patient payments, including co-pays for insurance plans
  • maintain accurate transaction batches and balance cash drawer
  • notify clinical staff via EMR when patients arrive
  • inform patients of appointment delays
  • answer incoming telephone calls using proper etiquette
  • manage necessary patient forms including scanning, printing, assembling, and mailing
  • schedule patient appointments and follow-ups using computerized systems
  • prioritize telephone encounters
  • monitor automated confirmation calls and update EMR
  • take patient temperatures on a rotating basis
  • ask health screening questions
  • verify appointment times and advise patients accordingly
