Job Requirements
- High school graduate
- ability and willingness to provide excellent customer service to patients, colleagues, and vendors
- ability to work independently and accurately
- ability to work well in a busy environment
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- excellent customer service skills
- proficiency with Windows-based computer applications
- ability to accurately transcribe and enter data
- effective communication skills
- ability to work independently and as a team member
- experience in a healthcare or customer service environment preferred
Job Duties
- Greet incoming patients using friendly, respectful communication
- obtain and document up-to-date demographic and insurance information
- accept and document patient payments, including co-pays for insurance plans
- maintain accurate transaction batches and balance cash drawer
- notify clinical staff via EMR when patients arrive
- inform patients of appointment delays
- answer incoming telephone calls using proper etiquette
- manage necessary patient forms including scanning, printing, assembling, and mailing
- schedule patient appointments and follow-ups using computerized systems
- prioritize telephone encounters
- monitor automated confirmation calls and update EMR
- take patient temperatures on a rotating basis
- ask health screening questions
- verify appointment times and advise patients accordingly
