Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience within a medical office or billing department preferred
  • Knowledge of patient billing and medical terminology preferred
  • Excellent keyboard skills
  • Proficiency in a Windows based computer environment and Microsoft Office products
  • Accuracy and dependability required

Job Duties

  • Greets and communicates with patients via phone or in person in a courteous and professional manner identifying themselves and their department
  • Answers telephones in a timely, courteous, and professional manner utilizing appropriate scripting
  • Processes calls to ensure patients are transferred to the appropriate staff member/provider in a timely manner
  • Schedules patient appointments based on department protocols in order to maximize provider productivity
  • Handles insurance verification, copay collections, referrals, prior authorizations, and patient registration
  • Supports providers with chart preparation and maintaining accurate records
  • Manages incoming and outgoing communications efficiently to support clinical staff
