Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED
  • Minimum one year experience as a receptionist preferably in outpatient healthcare setting
  • Previous experience with computers and automated scheduling preferred
  • Prior experience handling and balancing cash
  • Ability to read, write and speak English and Spanish without an interpreter
  • Proficiency with EMR systems
  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and medical terminology
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Demonstrates interpersonal and cultural sensitivity
  • Operates general business equipment
  • Ability to handle cash transactions and balance cash drawers

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or GED
  • One or more years experience as a receptionist preferably in outpatient healthcare
  • Experience with computers and automated scheduling preferred

  • Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and medical terminology
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English and Spanish fluently
  • Proficiency with EMR systems
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and experience working with diverse populations

Job Duties

  • Graciously greets patients and visitors promptly and politely and registers patients
  • Ensures and assists patients in completing all required forms and routes forms accordingly
  • Inputs registration demographic and insurance information and updates as needed
  • Determines patient insurance eligibility and assists with selecting a primary care provider
  • Reviews provider schedules in advance and assembles patient registration packets
  • Schedules patient visits including all required ICD-10 codes for appointments
  • Confirms, cancels, and reschedules appointments and communicates changes to clinical staff
  • Informs clinical personnel of patient arrivals and routes patients to appropriate clinical areas
  • Answers and routes incoming telephone calls and manages messages
  • Handles prescription refill requests as per procedures
  • Checks patients out at end of visit, addresses simple billing questions and ensures accuracy of charge tickets
  • Collects outstanding balances, copayments, and payments via multiple methods, balances cash drawer and secures cash
  • Assists in verifying and processing patient referrals and medical records requests
  • Opens or closes office securely and maintains front office workflow and policies
  • Supports team efforts with related tasks as needed
