Job Description
American Family Care (AFC) is one of the leading primary and urgent care companies in the United States. Established as a trusted healthcare provider, AFC operates state-of-the-art medical centers that focus on the episodic treatment of acute illnesses, injuries, workers' compensation cases, and occupational medicine. The company prides itself on being accessible with seven-day-a-week services on a walk-in basis, combining convenience with high-quality care. Each facility boasts onsite laboratories and in-house x-ray capabilities that enable prompt and comprehensive medical attention. American Family Care serves a broad demographic, catering to patients who require urgent medical services without the need for prior appointments, making healthcare more accessible and efficient.
AFC is also the parent company of AFC Franchising, LLC (AFCF), which manages franchised locations of the urgent care centers. This structure allows for localized management while maintaining consistent high standards across all centers. Each franchise location may have slight variations in specific job duties and benefits according to local needs and operational necessities.
This position involves working directly with a franchised AFC location, providing a critical role in patient intake and administrative operations. The role entails accurately checking patients in and out, verifying insurance details, collecting payments, and maintaining up-to-date patient records and accounts. Maintaining patient flow efficiently is essential to creating a positive patient experience and optimizing clinic operations. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and organizational capabilities to ensure smooth clinic functioning.
The job requires preparation and setup of the clinic for daily operations, including opening systems applications and preparing necessary documents for new patient registration. Greeting patients warmly, providing initial paperwork, and obtaining necessary identification and insurance details form the foundation of the patient’s onboarding experience at the clinic.
Registering patients accurately, verifying insurance information promptly, and processing patient checkouts efficiently are core responsibilities that ensure administrative workflows align with standard procedures and compliance requirements. The position is also responsible for addressing billing issues, determining applicable patient payments, and ensuring collections are handled correctly and timely.
Providing excellent customer service is paramount, with duties including prompt responses to patient needs, assisting with follow-up appointments, and fulfilling medical documentation requests. Financial accountability is a critical aspect, involving balancing daily patient charges from various payment methods against system reports, executing closing procedures, preparing reports, and securing financial assets.
Candidates for this role should expect a small business work environment that is both collaborative and flexible. The company offers flexible scheduling options, supporting work-life balance alongside competitive benefits such as paid time off, health insurance, dental insurance, retirement benefits, and additional perks that contribute to employee well-being and satisfaction.
