Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of 1 year experience in a medical office setting preferred
  • Valid driver’s license upon hire and throughout employment
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
  • Proficient in grammar, spelling, and verbal communication
  • Ability to read and follow oral and written instructions
  • Knowledge of computer and medical terminology desired
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Professional phone skills and etiquette
  • Ability to file documents alphabetically and numerically
  • Experience using office computer systems and equipment
  • Ability to stand, sit, reach, lift up to 10 pounds, and use manual dexterity
  • Willingness to travel 15-20% as needed
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment
  • Adherence to information security policies including protection of ePHI and PHI

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a medical office setting preferred
  • Ability to learn and practice Pediatric Associate procedures, policies, and protocols
  • Proficient grammar, spelling, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow oral and written instructions
  • Knowledge of computer systems and medical terminology desired
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with staff and patients
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Professional phone skills and etiquette
  • Good judgment and ability to maintain patient confidentiality
  • Ability to file alphabetically and numerically
  • Experience using computer systems, scanners, printers, and fax machines
  • Valid driver’s license upon hire and throughout employment

Job Duties

  • Check in patients upon arrival including updating demographics, insurance information, PCP, pharmacy, collect co-pays and patient balances, provide consents for signature as well as health questionnaires
  • Check out patients, collect additional balances, provide visit summaries, specialist referral information, patient portal information, completed forms, and schedule follow-up appointments
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility through Batch Eligibility or on demand
  • Contact patients with inactive insurance or inappropriate PCPs
  • Post patient charges and payments and complete charge and payment reconciliation
  • Scan and upload documents in the document management system
  • Sort and deliver mail and PA documents received by courier
  • Maintain a clean work area and patient waiting area
  • Participate in staff and educational meetings
