The receptionist is the first point of contact, setting the tone for the entire patient's experience. This role oversees front desk operations including patient check-ins, scheduling appointments, managing insurance and demographic data, and facilitating communication between patients and healthcare providers. The Medical Receptionist is also responsible for handling insurance verifications, collecting co-pays, explaining financial responsibilities, and ensuring all forms and documentation are complete and confidentially maintained. In this capacity, the receptionist plays a pivotal role in supporting patients’ continuity of care and ensuring smooth clinic operations.\n\nThis position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a compassionate mindset geared towards supporting individuals in recovery. Candidates should be proficient with electronic medical records (EMRs), Microsoft Office, and phone systems, coupled with excellent communication skills, both in person and over the phone.   • 1+ year of experience in a fast-paced medical office required

Job Duties

  • Greet patients with warmth, compassion, and professionalism
  • confirm and update insurance and demographic details at each visit
  • schedule and coordinate provider appointments, adjusting as needed
  • assist patients who missed appointments to encourage treatment continuity
  • handle prior authorizations and explain patient financial responsibilities
  • distribute, verify, and scan forms, including handbooks and intake documents
  • collect co-pays and process payments
  • set up payment plans when needed
  • maintain a clean, organized front office and uphold patient confidentiality
  • provide courteous, effective communication by phone and in person
  • participate in team huddles and contribute to a supportive work environment
