Job Description
ProHealth Physicians is a reputable and community-focused healthcare organization that operates as part of the larger Optum family of businesses. Renowned for its commitment to delivering exceptional care and service, ProHealth Physicians plays a vital role in sustaining the health and well-being of the communities it serves. This organization prioritizes teamwork among care professionals and provides robust medical resources to ensure that patients receive comprehensive and compassionate medical attention. As a leading community-based medical group, ProHealth Physicians emphasizes a culture centered on caring, connecting, and growing together. The organization fosters an environment where healthcare professionals can thrive while making meaningful contributions to patient health outcomes and community wellness.
The current opening is for a Medical Receptionist, a pivotal role within ProHealth Physicians’ care teams. This full-time position, requiring 40 hours of work per week from Monday through Friday, is based at the Newtown, Connecticut location. The receptionist role is integral to supporting the care team and their patients by managing front-desk activities including greeting and checking in patients, scheduling appointments, handling telephone inquiries, collecting payments, and maintaining accurate patient demographic information. Additionally, as part of their duties, the Medical Receptionist will use the electronic health record (EHR) system routinely to manage patient information following established protocols. The role may also require flexibility to provide coverage by floating to other local ProHealth practices based on business needs. This position offers a structured work schedule from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM with a 30-minute lunch break.
The Medical Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for patients, contributing significantly to the overall patient experience by ensuring smooth and efficient check-in and check-out procedures. The role demands a friendly, patient-focused attitude and attention to detail to accurately document patient inquiries and schedule appointments using standard protocols. The receptionist will manage administrative tasks such as balancing payments, preparing deposits, managing work queues, and scanning documents into the EHR. A strong emphasis is placed on maintaining patient confidentiality, adhering strictly to privacy standards regarding medical, personal, and financial information. Beyond daily responsibilities, the role supports the organization’s larger mission by providing assistance at multiple locations when necessary, which offers a dynamic and diverse working environment.
ProHealth Physicians, under UnitedHealth Group, offers a competitive hourly pay ranging from $16.15 to $28.80, dependent on factors like local labor markets, education, certifications, and work experience. Employment with this organization is complemented by a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase plans, and a 401(k) retirement savings plan. This benefits package supports career development and offers employees resources for professional and personal growth. Joining ProHealth Physicians means being part of a mission-driven organization that values diversity and equity, recognizing the importance of providing equitable care and addressing healthcare disparities within the community. The company upholds rigorous ethical standards, encouraging an inclusive workplace where all employees are given equal opportunities to succeed regardless of race, gender, age, or background. ProHealth Physicians is an equal employment opportunity employer and maintains a drug-free work environment, ensuring a safe and professional workplace for all employees.
