Job Description
American Family Care (AFC) is one of the largest and most trusted primary and urgent care providers in the United States, with over 250 state-of-the-art clinics operating nationwide. Known for its patient-centric approach, AFC offers convenient healthcare services on a walk-in basis seven days a week, specializing in the episodic treatment of acute illnesses, injuries, workers' compensation cases, and occupational medicine. Each AFC center is fully equipped with onsite laboratories and in-house x-ray capabilities to ensure comprehensive and efficient patient care. AFC is also the parent company of AFC Franchising, LLC, a network of franchised business locations providing localized healthcare services with dedicated and knowledgeable medical professionals.
Working under this expansive and robust healthcare network, the role of Patient Registration Specialist focuses on frontline patient engagement and administrative support essential to clinic operations. This position primarily involves checking patients in and out efficiently by verifying insurance information, collecting payments, and maintaining detailed and accurate patient records and accounts. The role requires maintaining patient flow and delivering exceptional patient relations through positive and professional interactions. As part of the team, the specialist supports the preparation and opening procedures each day, including readying patient registration packets and system applications to welcome visitors. Responsibilities also extend to acquiring initial patient paperwork, accurately registering patients, verifying insurance claims, and resolving any billing or collection issues with tact and efficiency. The ability to respond swiftly to patient needs and facilitate follow-up care appointments enhances the overall patient experience and clinic productivity.
This role perfectly suits individuals with strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and adeptness with basic computer programs such as Microsoft Office. Previous medical clerical experience enhances one's ability to perform successfully in this role; however, the company values a clear, articulate communication style and a well-groomed, professional appearance above all.
The Patient Registration Specialist position is integral to AFC’s mission to revolutionize healthcare delivery by providing patient-focused care in a kind, caring, and economical manner accessible to all. This role provides an exceptional opportunity to contribute to a busy, thriving healthcare environment where making a positive difference in patients' lives is paramount. While the position may be based in company-owned or franchised locations—with variable benefits depending on the location—it offers the chance to grow professionally within the nation's leading urgent care provider. AFC's workplace culture emphasizes respect, inclusivity, and continuous growth, and they are committed to equal employment opportunity for all candidates.
Aspiring candidates seeking a fulfilling career in healthcare administration are encouraged to join AFC, where dedication to patient care, operational excellence, and compassionate service converge to create a rewarding career path. The compensation package is competitive and typically includes benefits such as health and dental insurance, 401(k), paid time off, flexible scheduling, and employee discounts, depending on the location. By becoming part of AFC, you join a rapidly expanding network that prides itself on leadership in urgent care and primary care services across the United States, impacting millions of lives annually through quality and accessible care.
