Job Requirements

  • High school graduate
  • medical terminology certification preferred
  • computer knowledge and experience with Windows environment including Microsoft Office Word and Excel
  • keyboarding skills
  • ability to operate general office equipment
  • ability to read and write in English
  • bilingual in Spanish preferred
  • one to two years of general or medical office experience or completion of a medical office program within the last two years
  • one to two years of health experience preferred
  • flexibility in work schedule
  • ability to sit for long periods
  • ergonomic keyboarding practices
  • frequent contact with patients
  • exposure to video display terminals

Job Duties

  • Greet patients warmly to create a welcoming environment
  • register and interview patients to obtain accurate demographic and financial information
  • enter new and updated patient information into the computer system
  • answer phone calls professionally
  • prepare medical records for clinic visits by compiling information from various sources
  • track dictation to ensure notes are received for all patient visits
  • collect co-pay amounts and balances due for services rendered
  • distribute financial assistance packets and provide basic guidance to patients
  • refer complex or non-compliant patient financial issues to Financial Specialist or Site Manager
