Job Description
Laredo Physicians Group (LPG) is a respected healthcare provider known for delivering high-quality medical care to the community of Laredo and the surrounding areas. As an organization, LPG offers a comprehensive range of primary care and specialty healthcare services, focusing on patient-centered care and ensuring that every patient experience is positive and professional. LPG's team of physicians has diverse backgrounds and extensive experience, united by a shared commitment to meeting the healthcare needs of families and individuals alike. The group is closely affiliated with Doctors Hospital of Laredo, which enhances its network with two freestanding emergency rooms and an outpatient clinic that provides ancillary and surgical services. This affiliation ensures that patients have convenient access to a broad spectrum of medical services under one umbrella, thus improving continuity of care and outcomes.
The Medical Office Specialist (MOS) role at Laredo Physicians Group is a pivotal position responsible for managing the front desk operations in a busy medical practice setting. This includes various key administrative responsibilities such as patient registration, check-in, and scheduling appointments with both primary care physicians and specialists. The MOS handles financial transactions including collecting co-pays and billing patients, maintaining electronic medical records by scanning reports and correspondence, and supporting overall patient flow to foster an efficient and welcoming clinical environment. Ideal candidates for the MOS position will possess strong knowledge of medical terminology alongside excellent organizational and communication skills, the ability to adapt to a flexible work schedule, and the capability to handle frequent interruptions while maintaining professionalism and a calm demeanor. Integrity, discretion, and confidentiality are crucial in this role, as is the ability to problem solve and follow through on assignments until successful completion.
LPG is part of Independence Physician Management (IPM), itself a subsidiary of Universal Health Services (UHS), one of the largest healthcare service providers in the United States. UHS has a strong reputation for quality, innovation, and community commitment, exemplified by its impressive growth and recognition as a Fortune 500 company with annual revenues of $15.8 billion in 2024. UHS operates a broad network of acute care hospitals, behavioral health facilities, outpatient centers, and physician networks, including LPG through IPM. Working within this extensive system offers abundant career development opportunities, access to comprehensive benefits, and the chance to contribute to a respected organization dedicated to improving health outcomes across multiple states and territories.
Joining LPG as a Medical Office Specialist means becoming part of a dynamic healthcare team focused on excellence in patient care, operational efficiency, and professional growth. This employment opportunity offers competitive compensation, a supportive and challenging work environment, and a wide range of benefits including medical, dental, vision coverage, paid time off, retirement plans, and loan forgiveness programs. It is an ideal position for those seeking to leverage their medical office skills in a rewarding healthcare setting while gaining exposure to an esteemed healthcare organization with strong values and community ties.
