Job Requirements

  • experience working in a correctional facility environment
  • experience providing administrative support to supervisors and charge nurses
  • experience managing patient charts and medical records
  • proficiency in excel, word, powerpoint, sharepoint, outlook, and epic software
  • ability to organize work and manage time effectively
  • excellent communication skills
  • punctuality and professionalism
  • ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with hipaa regulations
  • ability to work weekends and holidays as scheduled
  • possession of a high school diploma or equivalent

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • experience in a correctional facility or similar healthcare environment
  • proficiency with microsoft office applications including excel, word, powerpoint, sharepoint, and outlook
  • experience with electronic health records and maintaining hipaa compliance
  • strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • ability to organize work and manage time effectively
  • ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • experience providing administrative and clerical support
  • knowledge of medical office procedures and terminology

Job Duties

  • provide routine to difficult medical office support in correctional health settings
  • manage patient and provider scheduling and transportation
  • scan and maintain patient charts within an electronic health record
  • answer telephones and make appropriate referrals
  • order and restock office and medical supplies
  • maintain office equipment such as printers and fax machines
  • transcribe and print medical charts for jail and prison transfers
  • process medical records requests, subpoenas, and court orders
  • coordinate psychiatrist and clinic schedules in forensic mental health
  • compile statistical and data reports
  • support clinical services managers and administration with clerical duties
  • reconcile invoices and submit for payment
  • communicate diet and medication delivery information with custody and nutrition services
  • serve as back up to other medical office assistants
  • participate in special projects assigned by supervisors and managers
