Job Requirements

  • Medical Assistant certification
  • CPR certified
  • demonstrate knowledge of HIV medical terminology, procedures, medications, and accepted treatment practices
  • demonstrate knowledge of OSHA rules, regulations, and mandates
  • possess good communication and interpersonal skills with patients, visitors, and staff
  • ability to use problem-solving techniques, be a self-starter, work effectively, be organized and multitask
  • ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures
  • bilingual preferred
  • neat, professional appearance
  • ability to handle and lift patients
  • exert up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs frequently, 10 lbs constantly
  • involve sitting, walking, standing briefly
  • ability to express or exchange ideas by spoken word and visual and auditory acuity
  • pass Level I background check (Level II may be required)
  • pass pre-employment drug screen

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Promote and practice CAN Community Health's mission, vision, and values
  • greet and assist patients with professionalism and confidentiality
  • accurately collect, process, and post patient payments including co-pays and deductibles
  • verify and update patient insurance information during check-in
  • schedule and confirm patient appointments and manage follow-up for missing documentation
  • assist with front desk duties such as answering phones and managing paperwork
  • learn EMR system with 95% accuracy and pass audits and SME testing
  • ensure all patient insurance has been verified
  • run and reconcile end of day reports against daily collections and POS
  • coordinate patient transportation
  • review and address assigned tasks in EMR including telephone encounters and assigned buckets
  • assist with patient check-out and administrative tasks
  • maintain adequate stock of office and breakroom supplies
  • maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA
  • perform medical intake including vital signs and history
  • perform patient evaluation and assessment
  • record and report symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes
  • perform immunizations as directed
  • practice safe phlebotomy
  • document all patient care accurately and timely
  • complete medical prior authorizations and documentation
  • maintain temperature logs for clinic refrigerators with specimens and medications
  • practice safety and infection control methods
  • assist with referrals and coordinate services with other organizations
  • collaborate with clinic team to coordinate patient services
