Job Description
Phoenix Raceway is a renowned motorsports venue situated in the Southwest, with a prestigious history dating back to 1964. As the home of NASCAR's Championship Weekend, it is a premier destination for racing enthusiasts and hosts two major NASCAR race weekends annually. The track comes alive each March with the Shriners Children's 500 NASCAR Weekend, featuring thrilling competitions from the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, and ARCA Menards Series. In November, Phoenix Raceway becomes the battleground where champions are crowned across multiple series including the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, and ARCA Menards Series West. Beyond racing, the venue is versatile and hosts a variety of events throughout the year including corporate meetings, conferences, charity events, holiday festivities, sports and endurance competitions, driving schools, and guided Segway tours.
The role of First Aid Technician at Phoenix Raceway is an exciting temporary, event-based opportunity that requires a dedicated individual ready to provide critical medical support during high-profile racing events. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the health and safety of participants, staff, and spectators by offering medical triage and first aid treatments promptly and efficiently. The First Aid Tech will assist healthcare professionals such as nurses, physician assistants, and doctors when needed and help in managing medical supplies to guarantee that the medical team is well-equipped at all times. Coordination and communication are key, as this role also involves requesting and managing the continuation of care when more advanced medical attention is necessary. Given that the position is event-driven, shifts and hours will vary depending on the event schedule, primarily focused around the major race weekends in March and November.
Ideal candidates should possess current certifications including a Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR card and have credentials as an Arizona State EMT or Paramedic, with Emergency Room Patient Care Technician (ER PCT) certification also being acceptable. The role requires a minimum age of 18, a high school diploma or GED, valid driver's license, and the ability to pass a driving record check, which is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates must also demonstrate strong communication skills, a professional work ethic and appearance, and maintain a positive attitude suited to the dynamic and fast-paced environment of race day operations. Completion of required online training both initially and annually is mandatory to ensure preparedness and compliance with safety protocols.
Joining Phoenix Raceway as a First Aid Technician means contributing to one of the most dynamic sporting events in the country, working alongside passionate professionals in a close-knit, high-energy setting. NASCAR, the parent organization, is committed to employee growth and offers competitive salaries, a comprehensive benefits package focused on wellness, and opportunities for career advancement. Importantly, NASCAR values diversity and inclusion, providing an equal opportunity workplace where all employees feel valued and empowered. If you have the requisite skills and passion for motorsports and emergency medical service, this role offers a unique chance to be part of a storied institution in a critical frontline capacity. Apply to join the team and be a vital part of the racing experience at Phoenix Raceway.
