The health system spans multiple counties and specialties including orthopedic services, family care, internal medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, immediate and urgent care, cardiology, pulmonology, rheumatology, general surgery, cancer care, behavioral health, and sleep medicine. This diversity allows St. Charles to provide comprehensive care designed to meet broad healthcare needs with professionalism and expertise.
Located in Bend South, Oregon, Family Care Clinic is part of this expansive health system known for its community-focused approach and support of healthy living in a region famed for outdoor recreational opportunities like hiking, skiing, biking, and rafting. St. Charles Health System supports healthcare professionals with competitive salaries, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for growth within a culture that embraces continuous improvement and patient-centered care.
The Medical Assistant position at St. Charles Health System is a vital role that supports the daily functions of various physician practices throughout Central Oregon. Medical Assistants work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment and are key to ensuring smooth patient flow and high standards of care in support of providers. This role requires excellent triage skills, the ability to anticipate physician needs, and a commitment to maintaining accurate patient records and medical data. Medical Assistants are also responsible for performing ancillary and surgical procedures as requested by physicians, excluding administration of IV medication, and ensuring instrumentation and equipment are well maintained and stocked.
This position demands strong communication and customer service skills, professionalism, and adherence to confidentiality and compliance standards including HIPAA. Medical Assistants act as champions for continuous improvement through Lean principles, fostering a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests. The role is non-supervisory but instrumental in delivering efficient and compassionate care that aligns with the organization's mission and vision.
Candidates must hold a current Medical Assistant certification from recognized institutions such as the American Medical Technology Association, National Center for Competency Testing, American Association of Medical Assistants, National Association for Health Professionals, or National Healthcareer Association, or hold related licenses like Oregon LPN, RN, or certified EMT at intermediate or paramedic level. Additionally, Basic Life Support certification is mandatory. Experience is required, especially knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding conventions, physician office practices, and medical documentation standards. A minimum of one year of licensed experience is preferred for applicants seeking relocation assistance.
The position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $24.93 to $31.91 depending on experience, with a standard forty-hour workweek, Monday through Friday shifts between 7:00 AM and 5:30 PM. Benefits include comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 403(b) retirement plan with matching contributions, paid time off, sick leave, wellness programs, employee discounts, free parking, and relocation assistance for eligible candidates. This is an in-person role located in Central Oregon, ideal for healthcare professionals looking to advance their careers while contributing to a community-oriented health system in a beautiful and active environment.
