Job Description

Austin Community College (ACC) is a prominent public two-year institution located in the state of Texas, serving a diverse and multicultural population of approximately 41,000 credit students each fall and spring semester. Established with a strong commitment to community development and student success, ACC offers affordable access to higher education and workforce training through both traditional and distance learning modes. The college provides a variety of academic programs including applied baccalaureate degrees that cater to the educational needs of its service area. ACC promotes a mission-driven culture that values intellectual curiosity, innovative teaching, and equitable access to educational opportunities. The college is deeply invested in its students' academic achievement and postgraduate outcomes, placing a strong emphasis on supporting populations such as first-generation college students, low-income students, and those from underserved communities. Employees at ACC are expected to maintain residence within the State of Texas throughout their employment, supporting a close connection to the local community and college mission. The work environment at ACC encourages respect for diversity, collaboration, and active engagement with both the campus and the wider community.

The role of Media and Events Specialist within the Liberal Arts: Humanities and Communications division at Austin Community College is a specialized hourly position with a pay rate of $23.00 per hour. This role is critical in supporting various events, communications, outreach, and media initiatives that bolster the division's programs. The Media and Events Specialist is expected to coordinate, develop, and implement specialized materials and media support for departmental programs, contributing to the overall efficiency and success of the division's public-facing activities. The position may involve working within a specialty team, potentially part of the Marketing and Outreach Programs (MOP) team, offering targeted expertise to enhance communications efforts. The role includes duties such as training and providing support for training programs, processing documents, maintaining databases, generating reports, and offering information about departmental processes and procedures. Candidates for this role must be proficient in standard office software applications and database systems, demonstrating strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. The job requires effective interpersonal communication skills, tact, diplomacy, and the ability to establish strong working relationships across various teams and stakeholders. The physical requirements of the job place it predominantly in a standard office environment but include activities such as standing, walking, sitting, bending, reaching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and occasional lifting of objects up to 30 pounds. Diligence in following safety regulations and reporting unsafe conditions is also essential. This position provides an opportunity for an individual passionate about media, events, and communication to contribute directly to the success of ACC’s Liberal Arts division and its student-centered mission. Prospective candidates should be prepared to engage constructively with a culturally diverse community and help drive innovative educational outreach efforts that align with ACC’s values and strategic goals.
