Job Requirements

  • be at least 18 years of age
  • have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • basic knowledge of math, weights and measures
  • be dependable and reliable
  • have and show an outgoing and friendly behavior
  • have the ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays
  • have good communication skills
  • perform general housekeeping in the department
  • adhere to all safety, health, weights and measures regulations and company recipes
  • be capable of standing for up to 4 hours continuously and a total of 8 hours per shift
  • be able to work inside a temperature controlled area
  • possess good vision for using sharp knives and equipment
  • be able to lift and carry products between 25 to 90 lbs
  • be able to use a pallet jack to move pallets up to 500 lbs
  • be able to move racks of products weighing up to 70 lbs
  • be able to move tables weighing up to 70 lbs

Job Duties

  • provide a high level of customer service
  • practice safe food handling procedures
  • receive, store, and grind meats
  • unload and transport fresh, cured, and boxed meats and poultry
  • count and weigh incoming articles and compare results against an invoice
  • examine meats in storage and rotate meats to avoid aging
  • assist customers with questions and special orders
  • maintain a positive, customer-focused work environment
  • perform and follow "Clean as You Go" and "Fresh at 4" programs
  • adhere to all procedural guidelines set by the Meat Department
