Job Requirements

  • Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language
  • Ability to perform basic math
  • Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift
  • Ability to perform basic computer functions
  • Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 35 lbs, and occasionally lift 80-90 lbs
  • Ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products, spices and powdered substances without negative allergic consequences
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures
  • Ability to tolerate dust and cleaning agents during routine housekeeping duties
  • Ability to climb a ladder to retrieve items from overhead racking and storage areas
  • Ability to interact with customers in a friendly and helpful way
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to work all assigned work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies
  • Ability to engage and lead associates to achieve department goals.

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Proven experience in meat department management or related retail supervisory roles
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards and compliance regulations including HACCP
  • Effective leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Basic math and computer proficiency
  • Ability to manage inventory and use relevant technology applications
  • Customer service orientation
  • Ability to train and develop associates
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal labor laws
  • Physical capability to handle the demands of the job including lifting and standing
  • Commitment to safety and compliance standards
  • Experience in maintaining departmental financial goals
  • Ability to enforce company policies consistently
  • Ability to adapt to changing work environment and priorities.

Job Duties

  • Direct and supervise all functions and activities of the Meat Department and its Associates to achieve sales, profit, customer experience, and associate engagement goals
  • Ensure all duties comply with Safety, Friendliness, Presentation, and Efficiency service priorities
  • Maintain clean, safe, and organized work environment following Department QA standards
  • Enforce adherence to all company and regulatory safety policies including HACCP, HAZCOM, and food handling procedures
  • Supervise proper use and maintenance of equipment and Personal Protective Equipment by Associates
  • Train, lead, and develop department staff including interviewing, onboarding, and performance feedback
  • Manage inventory control including receiving, pricing, stocking, rotating, and storing merchandise
  • Ensure accurate recordkeeping such as temperature logs, production sheets, and compliance reports
  • Lead customer service efforts by greeting customers, providing assistance, and promoting charitable initiatives
  • Maintain professional department appearance including unit price label accuracy, product presentation, and compliance with labeling requirements
  • Utilize current technology applications relevant to meat operations
  • Verify the accuracy of invoices and product quality upon receipt
  • Enforce department and company policies consistently
  • Maintain staffing levels to meet sales and customer service demands
  • Perform department training programs and assist in food product preparation and special orders
  • Adhere to labor laws and department of labor minor regulations as applicable
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
