Yoke's operates multiple departments that focus on delivering superb shopping experiences including fresh produce, bakery, deli, meat, and seafood sections. The company prides itself on fostering a welcoming atmosphere for both guests and associates alike, emphasizing authenticity, professionalism, and community involvement.
The Meat Department Associate role at Yoke's Fresh Market is essential in creating a pleasant and efficient shopping experience for guests by actively engaging with them, ensuring they receive exceptional hospitality and professional service. This position offers a wage range of $16.70 to $21.25 per hour depending on experience and requires the associate to demonstrate reliability by reporting for assigned shifts on time and delivering excellent service consistently. Associates in this role are responsible for promoting sales through product recommendations, providing detailed product information, and assisting guests with special orders and preparation advice.
Key responsibilities include operating various meat and seafood equipment safely and efficiently, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards, and completing assigned duties to ensure the department operates smoothly. The role involves tasks such as cutting and preparing meats, grinding, seasoning, packaging, and labeling products, along with managing product inventory to minimize shrinkage. Associates are also expected to mentor new team members and actively participate in the store's safety and accident reduction plans. The position requires compliance with local, state, federal, and company safety and food handling regulations.
Yoke's offers comprehensive benefits to support the well-being of its employees. Among these are an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) fully paid by the company, the option for DailyPay allowing employees to access their pay early, and a 401K retirement plan with company matching up to 4% if elected. Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance are also available, with no-deductible medical options and company-paid life insurance for full-time employees working at least 30 hours per week. Additional benefits include voluntary insurance products, a health savings account (HSA), paid holidays, vacation time, bereavement and jury duty pay, paid sick and safe leave accrued hourly, paid family and medical leave, and an employee assistance program (EAP).
The ideal candidate for the Meat Department Associate position should have a high school diploma or GED, or possess one to three months of related experience or training. Candidates will need to have basic language, mathematical, and reasoning skills, with the ability to read simple instructions, communicate pleasantly with guests and coworkers, and perform tasks involving weight and volume measurements. Compliance with safety training and holding necessary permits, such as a valid State Food Handler's Permit and driver's license or state ID, is required. Employees are expected to embody Yoke's core values and actively contribute to the store's growth and community presence, embracing shared responsibilities and leadership opportunities regardless of formal supervisory roles.
