The role of Cook II at The Meadows of Napa Valley plays a vital part in maintaining the exceptional dining standards the community is known for. This position involves preparing high-quality food tailored to diverse dietary needs, including therapeutic and modified diets, under the guidance of the lead cook or sous chef. The role is suited for experienced culinary professionals passionate about delivering delicious, nutritious meals that enhance residents’ dining experiences and wellbeing. The Cook II is expected to adhere rigorously to food safety and sanitation guidelines while ensuring all preparations comply with state, federal, and DSHS regulations. Flexibility in scheduling is important, as the role may occasionally require working weekends or varied shifts to meet the community’s needs. Job Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- Prior experience as a cook/sous chef/grill cook
- Ability to prepare high quality food
- Flexibility with schedule
- Ability to maintain professional relationships
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to prepare therapeutic diets
- CPR and first aid training may be required
- Completion of food safety course
- Completion of background check, drug screening, and pre-employment tasks
- Ability to push/pull/carry up to 30lbs
Job Qualifications
- Prior experience as a cook/sous chef/grill cook (3-4 years preferred)
- Ability to prepare high quality food for residents
- Flexibility with schedule including weekends and various shifts
- Ability to maintain professional relationships with food and equipment vendors
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to prepare therapeutic/modified diets
- CPR and first aid training may be required
- Completion of recognized food safety course
- Successful background check, drug screen, and other pre-employment tasks as required
Job Duties
- Prepare assigned stations for shift
- Under direction of lead cook/sous chef, prepare individual components of various entrees and food items, adhering to the individual dietary restrictions of residents
- Maintain kitchen food safety and sanitary food handling in compliance with State, Federal, and DSHS regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Banquet experience
