Job Description

McMenamins on the Columbia is part of McMenamins, a family-owned company established in Oregon and Washington that specializes in handcrafted beverages including beer, wine, cider, spirits, and coffee. The company operates various locations ranging from neighborhood pubs to historic hotels, creating unique community spaces where art, history, music, food, and good drinks blend to form memorable social experiences. McMenamins prides itself on its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, welcoming individuals from diverse backgrounds and fostering an inclusive workplace.

McMenamins on the Columbia is currently hiring for the position of Host/Food Runner/Support Staff. This role plays an essential part in ensuring an excellent customer experience by greeting and seating guests in a busy, fast-paced environment. The Host/Food Runner/Support Staff member will be responsible for answering phones, directing customers to assigned or preferred seating, and assisting guests by providing information about the pub and its amenities. Additionally, the role involves expediting and delivering food from the kitchen to patrons promptly while also helping with cleaning and setting tables as needed.

This position requires significant mental agility and the ability to multitask effectively under pressure to meet deadlines in a high-volume setting. The ideal candidate is expected to work independently while also being an integral member of a team. Other duties may include restocking supplies, performing general cleaning tasks, working outdoors on a seasonal basis, and adapting to both smoking and non-smoking environments. Above all, maintaining excellent customer relations with all patrons is of utmost importance.

Working at McMenamins offers great perks such as employee discounts on hotel rooms, beverages, apparel, and access to concerts. Eligible employees benefit from comprehensive insurance packages that include medical, dental, vision, chiropractic, and alternative care. They also have access to a 401(k) plan with employer contributions, paid time off, and opportunities to work at various unique locations including pubs, hotels, wineries, and concerts.

This role not only offers competitive pay between $17.13 and $18.13 per hour plus tips but also encourages work-life balance within a fun and supportive team environment. McMenamins supports career growth within the company, with many employees advancing from entry-level roles to managerial positions over time.

Joining McMenamins means becoming a part of a company that values the preservation and resurrection of historic buildings and properties within Northwest communities. The organization actively contributes to local schools and non-profits and helps local businesses grow through collaborative products. Its pubs and hotels serve as welcoming neighborhood hubs for socializing and building community fabric, reflecting the company’s dedication to enriching the places they operate.
