Job Description
Volunteers of America Northern California and Northern Nevada (VOA-NCNN) is a distinguished nonprofit organization with a rich history dating back to 1911. The Head Chef position is a full-time role located at the Mather Community Campus Programs. This campus includes several key programs such as the Laverne Adolfo Transitional Housing Program for Youth (THP-Plus), Mather Transitional Housing Program for Families, DHS/OTL Family Program, Mather Emergency Shelter for Single Adults, and the Sacramento County Employment Program. This role is critical in supporting the nutritional and wellness needs of program participants by ensuring the preparation and delivery of high-quality meals in accordance with program objectives. The Head Chef will oversee meal preparation and service, maintain inventory and sanitation standards, and provide leadership and training to kitchen staff.

Self-development is encouraged through ongoing learning, attendance at staff meetings, and certification completion including CPR and First Aid. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- two or more years of related experience
- institutional kitchen experience strongly preferred
- prior supervisory experience
- knowledge of kitchen sanitation and safety procedures
- ability to communicate effectively
- understanding of issues related to homelessness, substance abuse, and disabilities preferred
- valid California driver’s license
- ability to meet insurance carrier guidelines
- pass all required background clearances
- obtain CPR/First Aid certification within 90 days
- ability to lift and move over 50 pounds
- ability to travel between locations
- able to climb stairs as required
Job Qualifications
- Two or more years of related experience
