Job Description
Seattle Sounders FC and Seattle Reign FC are two prominent professional soccer clubs based in the Pacific Northwest, competing in Major League Soccer (MLS) and the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) respectively. Both clubs have a deep-rooted history of athletic excellence and strong community connection, making them flagship teams in the Seattle area. These clubs have garnered passionate fanbases by consistently delivering thrilling match performances while promoting inclusivity, diversity, and community engagement through various initiatives. The organizations emphasize the importance of fostering a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere at all events and matches, reflecting their commitment to creating memorable experiences for fans and partners alike. They continually invest in enhancing matchday ambiance and community reach by generating dynamic programming and interactive opportunities that connect supporters on and off the field.
The Matchday and Events Assistant plays an essential role in the Matchday Operations department, supporting Seattle Sounders FC, Seattle Reign FC, and the affiliated Seattle Sounders FC 2 (Defiance). This part-time, hourly role offers approximately 5 to 10 hours of work per week at a rate of $21.30 per hour. Positioned within a fast-paced, highly visible environment, the Matchday and Events Assistant is pivotal in executing fan engagement, game-day operations, and overall event presentation. The incumbent serves as a liaison between the clubs, fans, partners, sponsors, and internal departments, ensuring seamless operations and maximizing fan satisfaction.
Key responsibilities revolve around in-stadium activations including setting up and breaking down fan engagement activities, overseeing signage and branding elements, managing distribution of promotional giveaways, and assisting with on-field experiences such as halftime entertainment and ceremonies. Additionally, this role extends beyond matchdays to support non-matchday events like community outreach, street team promotions, club-sponsored activities at the Providence Swedish Performance Center, and events led by the RAVE Foundation. The ideal candidate thrives in high-energy environments, demonstrates flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, and maintains a positive, professional attitude aligned with the clubs' core values of inclusivity, teamwork, and excellence.
In this role, the Matchday and Events Assistant will often be the face of the organization, engaging with fans to facilitate memorable experiences while ensuring compliance with brand standards and safety protocols. Effective communication and problem-solving skills are critical for success, as the assistant navigates operational challenges and delivers a high-quality experience consistently. Candidates with bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish or Portuguese, will find added opportunity to connect with the diverse fan base. This position requires a commitment to fostering a respectful, diverse environment that upholds the mission of creating moments that enrich lives and unify communities through the sport of soccer.
The clubs require candidates to have reliable transportation, the ability to stand for extended periods, and occasionally lift items weighing 20 pounds or more. Residing in Washington state at the time of hire is necessary. A background check is mandatory to ensure the safety and security of all participants in club activities. By joining Seattle Sounders FC and Seattle Reign FC as a Matchday and Events Assistant, individuals contribute directly to the ongoing growth of two prestigious clubs known for their competitive spirit, strong community advocacy, and commitment to exceptional fan experiences.
