Job Description
Seattle Sounders FC and Seattle Reign FC are prominent professional soccer clubs based in Seattle, Washington, known for their rich history, commitment to excellence, and strong community engagement. Both clubs have made significant strides in the world of soccer, with dedicated fan bases and continuously evolving programs to enhance the fan experience both on and off the pitch. As organizations, they emphasize inclusivity, community connection, and a progressive vision aimed at pushing boundaries and fostering growth through soccer. The clubs operate within a vibrant sports culture, delivering exciting matchday experiences and engaging various community initiatives that uphold their core values. Together, Seattle Sounders FC and Seattle Reign FC embody a unified mission to create memorable moments, enrich lives, and uplift through the sport of soccer.
The Matchday and Events Assistant position is a part-time, hourly role within the Matchday Operations department, offering approximately 5-10 hours of work per week at a competitive rate of $21.30 per hour. This role is essential in bringing to life the dynamic matchday and community events across the Sounders FC, Reign FC, and Defiance clubs. The assistant supports the seamless execution of in-stadium fan engagement programs, game presentations, and partner activations that align with both club values and sponsorship objectives. This position demands an individual with a passion for delivering exceptional fan experiences in a fast-paced environment, capable of adaptability and eager to contribute wherever needed. The Matchday and Events Assistant acts as a key liaison between various internal departments and external partners during games, ensuring that every fan interaction is meaningful, memorable, and reflects the clubs' ethos of excellence, teamwork, and community commitment.
Availability for this role requires attendance at a minimum of 60% of matches played by the Sounders FC, Reign FC, and Defiance teams, reinforcing the importance of consistent presence during matchdays. This ensures the assistant is fully integrated within event operations and actively contributes to each live event. The role also extends to non-matchday club events, where support is provided for marketing initiatives, fan development, community outreach via the RAVE Foundation, ticketing services, corporate partnerships, and cultural inclusivity programs. The position involves responsibilities such as event setup and teardown, fan activation support, operational logistics, and acting as a brand ambassador at diverse community engagements. Given the multifaceted nature of this job, individuals in this role must demonstrate excellent communication skills, a collaborative spirit, problem-solving capabilities, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) principles consistently upheld by both clubs.
Furthermore, employees must reside in Washington state at the time of hire and have reliable transportation. The physical demands include the ability to lift over 20 pounds occasionally and to stand for extended periods. The clubs prioritize creating a welcoming environment for all applicants, encouraging diverse candidates—including women, gender-nonbinary individuals, people of color, LGBTQIA+ persons, and people with disabilities—to apply. This respectful and inclusive approach underlines the clubs’ mission to build a high-performing, best-in-class workplace and foster a culture where every team member’s contributions are valued and supported. Overall, the Matchday and Events Assistant role offers a unique opportunity to be part of two highly respected soccer organizations with a strong community presence and a commitment to elevating the fan experience through exceptional operational support and engagement strategies.
