As a renowned establishment in the hospitality industry, this hotel caters to both business and leisure travelers who seek top-notch accommodations, exceptional amenities, and unparalleled service. Guests enjoy the vibrant downtown location, providing easy access to local attractions such as the Knoxville Museum of Art, historic Market Square, and the University of Tennessee. The hotel features the WINDOWS ON THE PARK Restaurant and Lounge, beloved for its Best-4-Breakfast offerings and family-friendly dining experience, where children under 12 can eat free at qualifying rates. Known for its blend of comfort, convenience, and high standards, Marriott Knoxville Downtown promises an enriching stay experience that reflects the Marriott legacy of hospitality excellence.
As a Banquets Captain at Marriott Knoxville Downtown, you will take center stage in orchestrating flawless banquet events that leave lasting memories for guests. This leadership role places you at the core of event operations, where you will manage every detail from setup to service and breakdown, ensuring seamless execution aligned with Banquet Event Orders. Your natural ability to lead a dynamic team will be critical as you motivate staff, assign duties, and conduct pre-event briefings to maintain high standards of presentation, safety, and service quality. The role demands a hands-on approach where you act as a pivotal link between Sales, Catering, and guests, promptly resolving issues, enhancing guest satisfaction, and mitigating potential incidents.
In addition to overseeing service excellence, you will manage operational and financial elements such as scheduling, payroll reports, inventory control, and beverage service. Your expertise in handling paperwork, cash, and checks with precision underscores the position’s responsibility for financial accuracy and operational efficiency. The Banquets Captain is also a trusted company representative who supports audio/visual equipment needs, attends operational meetings, assists with lost and found management, and ensures security of sensitive areas.
This full-time role offers a stimulating work environment that thrives on energy and guest interaction, providing a platform for you to showcase your leadership skills and hospitality knowledge. Marriott Knoxville Downtown values team members who demonstrate initiative, strong decision-making, excellent communication skills, and resilience under pressure. Candidates with progressive experience in the hotel or banquet setting and supervisory capabilities are highly sought after.
The position recognizes the importance of compliance with safety policies and liquor laws, requiring Alcohol Awareness Certification as part of candidate qualifications. Marriott Knoxville Downtown supports employee growth and well-being by offering a comprehensive benefits package after an initial waiting period. Among the notable benefits are daily pay options, medical, dental, and vision insurance, disability income coverage, life insurance, paid time off, an employee assistance program, and a 401k retirement plan. This role is not only a career opportunity but a chance to lead in a prestigious hospitality setting, contributing to memorable guest experiences in one of Knoxville’s most distinguished venues.
