Job Description
St. Norbert College (SNC) is a nationally-ranked, private, Catholic, liberal arts college committed to providing an educational environment that fosters intellectual, spiritual, and personal development. As the only Norbertine institution of higher learning globally, SNC offers a unique combination of rich traditions and modern liberal arts education that emphasizes community, dignity, truth, and justice. Rooted in the Norbertine ideals of communio—a deep sense of community united as one—the college creates an enriching experience for students and employees who share a commitment to academic excellence and spiritual growth. Located in De Pere, Wisconsin, SNC integrates Catholic values with Norbertine traditions to nurture the personal and professional development of its community members while promoting a vibrant, diverse, and inclusive environment.
The Marketing and Communications Graduate Assistant position at St. Norbert College is a specialized two-year role designed for candidates who are accepted into the college's MBA program. Reporting directly to the Assistant Athletic Director of Athletic Communications, this position plays a pivotal role in shaping the department’s external and internal communication strategies. The successful candidate will serve as a key media contact for select athletic teams, providing on-site coverage and managing the dissemination of various forms of communication including press releases and social media content. The role requires a strategic thinker capable of developing and implementing marketing initiatives and activation plans that engage both campus and local communities.
This graduate assistantship comes with comprehensive benefits including full tuition coverage for the MBA program, a stipend, housing, and a meal plan, ensuring that the assistant can focus fully on their academic and professional responsibilities. The role necessitates a multifaceted skill set including strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills; the ability to multitask and prioritize; and proficiency with various computer software tools. Additionally, the assistant must demonstrate sound judgment, leadership abilities, event planning skills, and the capability to maintain focus in fast-paced environments, such as athletic competitions and events. The position is dynamic and requires work across various settings including competition and practice venues, on-campus facilities, and potentially involves weekend, early morning, and evening hours with travel expectations.
In this role, the Marketing and Communications Graduate Assistant will also be tasked with managing athletic ticketing operations, preparing sponsorship materials, and supporting the execution of prominent departmental initiatives including annual fundraising events, banquets, publicity photo shoots, and gameday marketing events. The graduate assistant will be instrumental in crafting and advancing video and social media strategies that highlight and promote the athletics department. Supervision of 1 to 3 student workers is also included in the responsibilities, further emphasizing the leadership component of the position.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in combining graduate studies with a hands-on, immersive experience in athletic marketing and communications within a mission-driven academic institution. Candidates must align with the college's values and NCAA Division III philosophy, demonstrating a commitment to compliance with NCAA, conference, and college policies. This position is ideal for individuals seeking to enhance their professional skills in sports communications and marketing within a supportive and mission-aligned academic community. The anticipated start date is June 1, 2026, and applications are considered on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
