Job Description
Northern Quest Resort & Casino is a premier hospitality and gaming destination known for its vibrant casino floor, luxurious accommodations, and exceptional guest services. Located in a stunning natural setting, Northern Quest combines entertainment, fine dining, retail, and cultural experiences to provide an unmatched visit for its guests. As a part of the Kalispel Tribe of Indians' commitment to hospitality, the resort operates with a strong emphasis on community values, cultural respect, and delivering superior customer experiences. Employees at Northern Quest are integral to maintaining the resort's high standards of service and the overall guest experience, making it a rewarding workplace for individuals passionate about hospitality and retail service.
The role of Market Place Retail Team Member at Northern Quest Resort & Casino involves supporting the sales of merchandise while delivering quality beverages in the Market Place venue. This position is designed for individuals who are enthusiastic about guest service, possess a friendly and efficient demeanor, and take pride in maintaining a clean, neat, and well-presented retail/café environment. Working in this position means adhering to the resort's policies and procedures, including health, safety, and sanitation standards, which are critical to both guest satisfaction and regulatory compliance.
Team members in this role are responsible for preparing and serving beverages that meet established quality standards, handling cash transactions accurately, and providing customers with helpful and knowledgeable assistance throughout their visit. The position requires the ability to manage inventory effectively – organizing stock, processing shipments, restocking returned merchandise accurately, and maintaining backroom and sales floor standards. The team member works alongside management to perform opening, closing, and shift change duties that ensure the venue operates smoothly at all times.
This role also calls for proactive problem-solving skills, as team members must address guest concerns swiftly and satisfactorily, reflecting the Kalispel Hospitality commitment to superior service. Collaborating closely with the Resort Retail leadership team, the Market Place Retail Team Member helps foster an inviting atmosphere that encourages sales and promotes ongoing customer engagement.
In addition to the core responsibilities of assisting with sales and beverage service, the position may involve supporting new team members through training and participating in internal review hearings as a panelist when required. Flexibility is crucial for this role, as team members must be willing to work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays, adapting to the business needs of the resort. Physical demands involve the ability to lift objects up to 75 pounds and perform repetitive motions, often while standing or moving throughout the venue.
Applicants for this position should have a high school diploma or GED and relevant experience, ideally in a barista or retail environment, although training is provided. Certifications such as Washington State Food Handlers, Mandatory Alcohol Server Training (MAST), and a Hepatitis A vaccination are required within specific timelines after hiring. The employer practices Indian preference in employment, reflecting its cultural values and commitment to local tribal members.
Overall, the Market Place Retail Team Member role at Northern Quest Resort & Casino is an excellent opportunity for individuals dedicated to providing exceptional guest service in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The position offers a chance to grow within a respected organization that values teamwork, customer satisfaction, and upholding a high standard of hospitality.
