The General Motors Manufacturing Group is actively seeking highly motivated and qualified individuals for the role of Maintenance Group Leader at its facility in Tonawanda, NY. This is an onsite, full-time position offering a base salary range from $68,900 to $105,700, with additional bonus potential based on company performance, job level, and individual contribution. The Maintenance Group Leader will oversee a team of skilled hourly workers responsible for troubleshooting and repairing complex manufacturing equipment and processes. The role requires technical expertise and involves enforcing National and Local UAW Agreements while supporting maintenance operations within the framework of Global Manufacturing Systems. The focus areas include Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, Cost, and Environment (SPQRCE), reflecting GM's commitment to operational excellence.

In this leadership position, the selected candidate will have opportunities to enhance their skills and contribute meaningfully to the advancement of manufacturing processes crucial to GM’s transition toward electric and autonomous vehicle production. The Maintenance Group Leader will play a key role in managing maintenance activities that keep the production line running smoothly and efficiently, ensuring quality standards are met and safety protocols are followed. The role demands problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment, effective team management including conflict resolution and performance management, and collaboration across various functions within the manufacturing setting. Physical stamina is important due to the nature of work in a loud manufacturing environment that may experience varying temperature conditions. Job Requirements

  • 18 years of age or older
  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • one year of direct team supervisory experience or at least 5 months as an internal GM per diem group leader
  • experience reading and understanding electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic blueprints
  • experience solving complex problems
  • experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • strong interpersonal skills
  • basic computer proficiency
  • willingness to work weekends, overtime, and rotating shifts
  • ability to manage conflict and make decisions
  • physical ability to perform job-specific tasks

Job Qualifications

  • One year of direct team supervisory experience or at least 5 months as an internal GM per diem group leader
  • experience reading and understanding electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic blueprints

  • must be willing to work weekends, overtime, and rotating shifts based on business needs

Job Duties
