The leader in this role will collaborate extensively with university stakeholders, campus partners, vendors, and union leadership to deliver seamless, high-impact hospitality experiences. This includes designing creative menu concepts, adhering to health and safety standards, promoting sustainable practices, and embedding the university’s priorities into every facet of the catering program. By driving business planning, monitoring sales and performance metrics, and steering financial management, the incumbent will ensure profitability and operational success. Furthermore, this role empowers staff through mentoring and coaching while fostering strong team dynamics to meet and exceed client expectations consistently.

The role is full-time and offers a competitive salary range between $90,000 and $165,750, reflecting the significant responsibility and leadership required. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality management, business administration, or related field required
  • Minimum of 10 years progressive leadership experience in catering, hospitality, or foodservice management preferably in a university or large-scale institutional setting
  • ServSafe certified
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to sustain standing and frequent bending
  • Must be able to lift and carry supplies and equipment up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to carry supplies up and down stairs
  • Union experience preferred
  • Successful completion of pre-employment background screening
  • Compliance with any required health examinations or vaccinations

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years progressive leadership experience in catering or hospitality management
  • Proven financial management skills including budget development and forecasting
  • Strong strategic planning and client relationship management abilities
  • Experience managing large and diverse teams
  • Knowledge of sustainability practices and health and safety compliance
  • Experience with high-profile and complex event management

Job Duties

  • Provide strategic leadership and planning for Yale Catering department
  • Oversee financial management including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control
  • Lead and direct the Catering teams including Sales & Events, Culinary, and Support Center
  • Manage event planning and execution ensuring alignment with university priorities and service standards
  • Cultivate strong relationships with campus partners, clients, and vendors for seamless event coordination
  • Mentor and develop catering team members through coaching and performance management
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and promote continuous improvement and innovation in catering services
