Job Description

The Tsai Performance Center is a distinguished 515-seat theatre managed by the Events & Conferences division of Auxiliary Services at Boston University. This venue is a fine example of a multi-use performance space that supports a broad spectrum of university and external events. Events & Conferences is entrusted with the comprehensive coordination of university-wide event programming, room scheduling for university functions, summer conference management, and the organization of external conferences and events throughout the year. Job Requirements

  • bachelor's degree
  • three to five years of relevant production experience
  • supervisory and training experience
  • ability to work evenings and weekends
  • excellent communication skills
  • self-starter with proactive work ethic
  • ability to motivate teams
  • client service orientation
  • ability to remain calm under pressure
  • proficiency with relevant technical software and equipment preferred
  • knowledge of Boston University preferred

Job Qualifications

  • bachelor's degree
  • three to five years of relevant production and technical theatre experience
  • experience in customer service or event production
  • supervisory and training experience in theatre or event production
  • ability to work varied schedules including evenings and weekends
  • passion for client and audience service
  • strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • experience with Microsoft Office, QLab, Lightwright, Vectorworks, ETC lighting consoles, Yamaha digital mixing consoles, and Dante networking systems preferred
  • knowledge of Boston University operations preferred
  • experience supervising student employees preferred

Job Duties

  • coordinate technical needs of events with clients
  • ensure all technical systems such as lighting, sound, and media are operating properly
  • maintain lighting plot and recommend repairs, maintenance, and equipment purchases
  • execute events on-site working alongside professionals and student staff
  • assist in booking process by providing technical input and participating in site visits
  • supervise and evaluate two full-time production staff
  • hire, train, and supervise a team of 30 student employees to operate technical equipment and support event attendees
