Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Five years of management experience in large-scale, high-volume food service operation
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards
  • Ability to manage, train, and supervise staff
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to maintain compliance with regulatory and institutional policies
  • Availability to work full-time, rotating shifts, including weekends
  • Commitment to uphold patient satisfaction and quality control standards

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s degree in food services or hospitality preferred
  • Five years previous management experience in large-scale, high-volume food service operation
  • Baltimore City Food Services Manager Certificate preferred
  • Experience in staff training and supervision
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Ability to develop and implement operational policies and procedures
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in using patient menu computer systems
  • Experience in quality assurance and performance evaluation

Job Duties

  • Plan, organize, direct and supervise kitchen service activities and delivery of food to patient floors
  • Ensure compliance to food safety, sanitation, and overall workplace safety standards
  • Work with and through lead workers to maintain efficient workflow
  • Coordinate the scheduling, loading, delivery and pickup of food carts
  • Maintain compliance with established policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental and infection control
  • Direct and assist with care and maintenance of equipment and supplies
  • Enhance professional growth and development through in-service and other educational programs
  • Maintain and support patient menu computer system
  • Work with clinical departments to develop and implement patient needs
  • Participate in regular patient rounding to monitor, maintain and improve patient satisfaction
  • Adhere to sanitation requirements and enforce quality control standards for patient food items
  • Train, orient, instruct, assign and supervise kitchen service employees
  • Evaluate performance and recommend action such as merit increases, promotions and disciplinary actions
  • Develop schedules and assignments and supervise patient services nutrition employees
  • Establish, monitor and update operating standards as needed, and communicate expectations
  • Administer program evaluations and reviews including Performance Improvement Plans
  • Interview, hire, train, appraise, counsel, and supervise staff and handle disciplinary actions
  • Ensure food and supplies are purchased from approved vendors following procurement processes
  • Ensure service requirements are met timely and effectively
  • Responsible for recruitment, hiring and monitoring employee performance
