Job Description

Wilshire Boulevard Temple, located in Los Angeles, CA, is one of the most historic and iconic religious institutions in the region. Serving as a vibrant cultural and spiritual home for its diverse community, the temple offers a wide range of programs, events, and educational opportunities that embrace tradition while addressing contemporary needs. The institution takes pride in maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all visitors, members, and staff, underscoring its dedication to excellence and community engagement. The temple's campus includes the Glazer Campus and the Brawerman East Schools, as well as the Audrey Irmas Pavilion (AIP), which hosts numerous public and private events throughout the year. Wilshire Boulevard Temple is committed to providing a secure and supportive atmosphere that ensures the safety and well-being of everyone who walks through its doors.

The Manager of Safety and Security is a full-time, exempt role with a salary range of $92,000 to $95,000. This critical leadership position is tasked with overseeing the comprehensive safety and security operations at the Glazer Campus and the Brawerman East Schools, with a particular focus on events and programming held at the Audrey Irmas Pavilion. The individual in this role will lead a dedicated team of security personnel, developing and enforcing policies, procedures, and risk mitigation strategies essential in managing a high-visibility, public-facing environment. Responsibilities encompass coordinating emergency preparedness and response activities, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and maintaining operational security systems, including CCTV, alarms, and access control.

In addition to managing daily security operations, the Manager of Safety and Security plays a vital role in event security leadership. They provide on-scene leadership during emergencies or high-risk incidents, serve as the primary security contact for campus and event stakeholders, and coordinate staff deployment effectively. The position requires a keen ability to assess event risks, plan security measures accordingly, and oversee crowd management and access control to foster a safe environment. Compliance with the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) regulations and other legal requirements is crucial to this role, alongside maintaining strong partnerships with local law enforcement and fire agencies.

The role also demands strong people management skills, requiring supervision, training, and development of security officers and supervisors. The Manager is responsible for ensuring that all staff maintain current certifications and are adequately trained to meet operational standards. This position may require availability during evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations to respond to incidents promptly. Physical demands include the ability to lift significant weight, stand for extended periods, and engage in defensive tactics and firearms training as necessary.

This role is ideal for a seasoned security professional with comprehensive knowledge of campus or event security, strong organizational skills, and the ability to exercise sound judgment under pressure. The Wilshire Boulevard Temple offers an enriching environment where safety leadership is paramount, providing opportunities for personal and professional growth within a respected cultural institution.
