Job Description

The National Constitution Center is a unique nonprofit and nonpartisan institution dedicated solely to the U.S. Constitution and its enduring legacy of freedom. Located in Philadelphia, the Center serves as an educational and cultural beacon that attracts people from diverse backgrounds both nationally and internationally. It functions not only as a museum but as America's Town Hall, fostering vibrant civic dialogue about constitutional principles and inspiring a deep understanding of the nation's foundational document. The Center offers an array of educational programs for on-site visitors as well as millions of users through online platforms, positioning itself as a vital resource in promoting civic literacy and active citizenship throughout the country.

As the nation prepares to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence in 2026, the National Constitution Center is gearing up for a series of major commemorations and programs. This milestone offers a transformative opportunity to highlight the importance of constitutional education and to engage diverse audiences through meaningful events. The Center will serve as the national headquarters for this historic celebration, welcoming civic leaders, national audiences, and partner institutions for high-profile activities commemorating America's foundational heritage.

The Manager of Events plays a critical leadership role in realizing the Center’s vision for high-impact, seamless events. This full-time exempt role, offering an annual salary in the range of $60,000 to $65,000, is responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and flawless execution of assigned programs and rental events hosted on-site. Serving as the main liaison between clients, internal stakeholders, and event operations teams, the Manager is instrumental in positioning the National Constitution Center as the premier venue for special events that reflect the institution's mission. Collaboration is key to this role, as the Manager works across departments including Sales, Operations, Audiovisual, Catering, and Visitor Experience to ensure each event proceeds smoothly and enhances the visitor experience.

This is a dynamic and fast-paced environment where each day presents unique challenges and opportunities. The Manager of Events is expected to use independent judgment and problem-solving skills to anticipate and resolve logistical issues proactively. They are also tasked with stewarding client relationships to encourage repeat bookings and preparing detailed event documentation and coordination with the Finance department on contracts and invoicing. In addition, the role includes maintaining up-to-date event data in Salesforce and other systems, leading weekly event operations meetings, and managing internal space requests efficiently.

This position demands availability for frequent weekend, evening, and holiday work to support the 24/7 nature of the Center’s event calendar. Physical requirements include periods of desk work, frequent standing and walking, and occasional light lifting. Beyond the scope of day-to-day responsibilities, the Manager of Events contributes to the broader mission by helping deliver programs that deepen public understanding of constitutional ideals and inspire civic engagement.

By joining the National Constitution Center, candidates gain the chance to be part of a historic milestone celebration and work within a mission-driven institution dedicated to civic education. The role also offers professional growth opportunities amid passionate colleagues committed to creating meaningful civic dialogues and educational experiences. Benefits accompanying this position are competitive and comprehensive, underscoring the Center’s commitment to employee well-being and work-life balance.
