Job Description

We are a distinguished institution dedicated to providing high-quality events that enrich the community and enhance the experience of attendees on our campus. As a respected institution with a vibrant campus life, we host a variety of events ranging from chapel services and conferences to concerts, camps, and specialized presentations. Our commitment to excellence extends not only to the content and purpose of these gatherings but also to the technology and execution that support them. We strive for innovation and quality in every event to ensure memorable and impactful experiences for all participants.

We are currently seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Manager of Event Technology to join our team and take the lead in planning, executing, and managing core institutional events. This full-time, in-person position offers a competitive salary ranging from $49,714.25 to $59,870.93 per year, reflecting the importance of this role within our organization. The Manager of Event Technology will be responsible for overseeing all audio and visual services for a broad range of campus events, including institutional chapel meetings, conferences, concerts, and onsite camps. This role is essential in ensuring that all technical aspects of events run smoothly, leveraging advanced sound, lighting, staging, and electronic equipment.

This leadership position will require management of a dedicated team comprising one full-time direct report and nine part-time technicians. Responsibilities include recruiting, training, scheduling, and evaluating the performance of staff members to foster a highly functional and motivated team. The manager will also collaborate extensively with the Event Planning Team and other campus constituents to conceptualize and bring to life the creative vision for stage designs and technical setups, providing digital design mock-ups and proposals along with oversight throughout the build and installation processes.

The successful candidate must be proficient in advising on maintenance and technological advancements to continuously enhance the quality and effectiveness of event technology services on campus. Additionally, the manager will frequently operate front of house sound as required and review technical riders to satisfy the needs of invited guest artists and music groups.

Work environment considerations include occasional exposure to outdoor conditions, heat, and minor physical activities such as stooping, bending, and lifting. Flexibility for evening and weekend work is necessary to support event schedules. This position reports directly to the Director of Events and represents a critical linkage between event vision and technical realization.

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field like engineering or communications, combined with three to five years of relevant experience operating sound engineering equipment, leading technical teams, designing stage sets, and managing budgets.
