The position operates on a 9.5-month support calendar and offers an hourly wage starting at $18.82, with increases depending on experience. The working hours vary as needed. The Nutrition Service Manager is tasked with organizing food preparation, supervising staff, ensuring that meals meet quality and quantity specifications, and making sure that all activities comply with mandated health and nutritional standards.

This role requires someone who can effectively manage food inventory and supplies, order equipment and food essentials within budgetary constraints, and train and supervise assigned employees. The manager will also be responsible for preparing important documentation and reports, such as meal program records, payroll sheets, and reconciliation reports. Engagement with students, staff, and the public to provide information about available food items is also part of the job. The position demands adherence to strict health and safety guidelines to maintain clean, safe, and sanitary food service environments. A Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card is mandatory for employment, alongside a Serv-Safe certification, emphasizing the importance of safety and compliance in this role.

Job Duties

  • Estimate food preparation amounts and adjust recipes
  • Inspect food and supply deliveries to verify quantity and specifications and comply with mandated health requirements
  • Inventory food, condiments, supplies, and equipment at specified intervals
  • Order food, equipment, and supplies to maintain adequate inventory within budget guidelines
  • Oversee preparation, cooking, serving, and transportation of food and beverage items to meet nutritional and health requirements
  • Perform functions of other positions within the area to ensure coverage
  • Prepare reports and documents such as meal program records, inventory reports, reconciliation reports, cash summary, and payroll sheets
  • Process receipts to complete and document transactions and prepare deposits
  • Respond to inquiries of students, staff, and the public regarding food items
  • Orient new employees to work center and school site processes
  • Train and manage assigned employees
  • Monitor food service facilities for safety, cleanliness, and sanitation
