Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience communicating effectively with co-workers and customers
- Demonstrated understanding of company practices in bakery or equivalent role
- Leadership skills in communication and personnel management
- Basic math competency
- Computer and Windows software proficiency
- Ability to perform bakery department clerk duties independently
- Supervisory skills including interviewing, scheduling, hiring and disciplining
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication abilities
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for safe equipment operation
- Awareness of workplace hazards and safety procedures
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures and around machinery
- Knowledge of bakery production
- Ability to learn department policies, sanitation and safety procedures
- Completion of French Bread University training
- Ability to conduct visual inspections and inventory calculations
- Physical stamina for standing, walking, bending and repetitive movements
- Ability to lift and maneuver objects up to 50 lbs
- Ability to operate hand trucks, pallet jacks and forklifts
- Proper use of cleaning chemicals
- Adherence to food handling regulations
- Current Food Handlers Certification
- Ability to perform duties with honesty and integrity
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent

- Understanding of company practices through bakery experience or equivalent
- Leadership skills in communication, people management, customer and employee relations
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
- Ability to operate computers and Windows software
- Ability to perform supervisory tasks such as interviewing, scheduling, hiring and disciplining
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to perform safe manual tasks with dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Knowledge of bakery production areas
- Ability to learn product variability, perishability, safety and sanitation procedures
- Completed or willing to complete French Bread University training
- Ability to perform inventory calculations and visual inspections
- Physical ability to stand for long periods, walk, bend, twist and perform repetitive movements
- Ability to handle objects up to 50 lbs and operate hand trucks and pallet jacks
- Knowledge and proper use of cleaning chemicals and food handling standards
- Ability to perform primary duties efficiently and accurately
Job Duties
- Assist Bakery Department Manager in meeting departmental sales and gross margin objectives
- Create effective promotional and seasonal displays
- Prepare, proof, stage and package bakery products
- Prevent shrink and oversee cost and quality control
- Order necessary products and ingredients
- Maintain and encourage fast, friendly customer service
- Ensure adequate product quantity, quality and freshness
- Order, check, receive and control inventory
- Build, maintain and organize product display and storage areas
- Stock and rotate products
- Inspect displays daily and discard outdated items
- Follow retail labeling laws and company policies
- Assist Department Manager in supervising, motivating, coaching and training personnel
- Monitor employee performance and recommend personnel actions
- Schedule personnel according to coverage needs
- Perform customer relation duties and engage in suggestive selling
- Ensure proper merchandising and product signage
- Maintain cleanliness and eye-appeal of work and storage areas
- Maintain a safe and secure work environment
- Perform receiving duties including verifying orders and processing claims
- Break down freight and stock inventory
- Perform all job duties with honesty and integrity
- Complete Manager in Training classroom and on-the-job training program
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed
