The Host City Volunteer Manager role at the FIFA World Cup 2026™ is a critical position responsible for managing the entire volunteer journey at a local level, specifically in New York/New Jersey in this case. This role involves planning and operational tasks related to recruitment, training, and tournament delivery phases, ensuring an exceptional volunteer experience throughout the event. The manager will collaborate closely with the broader FIFA World Cup 2026™ Volunteer Team and various stakeholders to execute the volunteer program successfully. This includes liaising with local community partners, city officials, and volunteer groups to foster positive relationships and streamline program implementation.

The position demands a proactive approach to managing volunteer data and communications using specialized platforms such as the FIFA Volunteer Platform and possibly Rosterfy, which aids in scheduling, role assignments, and tracking volunteer preferences and availability. The manager is also responsible for leading volunteer appreciation initiatives, resolving volunteer-related issues promptly and professionally, and overseeing volunteers at both competition and non-competition venues within the host city. Job Requirements

bachelor's degree or similar level of education
proven experience and knowledge in events or volunteer management or project management
experience with local community engagement preferably within FIFA26 host city
ability to create and foster productive working relationships with local authorities and volunteer groups
strong communication skills both oral and written

Job Duties

develop and implement local engagement recruitment training and operational delivery plans of the city volunteer program
liaise with local stakeholders in coordination with host city leads to support volunteer program implementation
collaborate with various FIFA departments and external stakeholders to address city volunteer needs
support centralized volunteer projects in coordination with the volunteer team
lead city volunteer centre operations including recruitment training and tournament time needs
develop and implement volunteer training to equip volunteers for their tasks
proficiently use FIFA Volunteer Platform for managing volunteer experience
plan and execute city volunteer appreciation initiatives
manage and resolve volunteer-related issues fostering an inclusive environment
collate and manage localized volunteer program information for the Volunteer Contact Centre
analyze volunteer performance data and feedback to identify areas for improvement
implement continuous improvement strategies for volunteer program efficiency
oversee volunteers at non-competition venues and support match day operations
liaise with external organizations and city supporters for additional volunteer support
ensure compliance with laws and policies related to volunteer management
prepare reports and presentations for management and stakeholders
