As a leader in pediatric healthcare, St. Jude is committed to providing outstanding patient care, fostering innovative research, and delivering support services that enhance the overall hospital experience. The hospital operates numerous departments, including Food Services, which plays a critical role in maintaining health, wellness, and satisfaction for patients, families, staff, and visitors across campus.
The Food Services department at St. Jude is responsible for campus-wide food and retail service operations, ensuring impeccable standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction. The Manager Hospitality Services (Chef) position is a full-time role based on weekdays during the day shift, offering a scheduled 40-hour workweek. The salary range for this position is estimated between $65,520 and $114,400 per year, reflecting the importance and responsibility associated with this role.
This managerial role entails overseeing daily food and retail operations throughout the campus, establishing and upholding compliance with St. Jude's rigorous foodservice standards, and delivering exceptional service levels aligned with the hospital’s mission. As the leader of this department, the Manager Hospitality Services will be entrusted with hiring, training, and mentoring supervisors and staff to foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. This individual will also collaborate with senior leadership and other key stakeholders to ensure integrated and efficient operational processes that support both routine and special event food service needs.
Financial stewardship is a significant component of the role, requiring the manager to implement proper controls to manage costs, optimize revenues, and maintain a balanced retail sales mix. The role also includes administrative responsibilities such as maintaining accurate records and billing to support operational integrity and transparency.
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in food services, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity preferred. A high school diploma or GED is required, with a bachelor’s degree being desirable. Certification such as the ServSafe Food Protection Manager or an equivalent ANSI-approved certification must be obtained within three months of hire to ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, able to motivate and empower their team while effectively handling employee relations, performance management, and skill development initiatives. They must demonstrate robust problem-solving capabilities, data-driven decision making, and a customer-centric mindset focused on delivering outstanding guest experiences. Physical stamina and the ability to work in a demanding environment, along with excellent communication and presentation skills, are essential to succeed in this role.
Overall, this position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a highly respected healthcare organization by leading food and hospitality services that directly support the comfort, well-being, and satisfaction of patients, families, and staff at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
