Job Description
This position is with a leading organization dedicated to ensuring the highest standards in food safety and total quality management. The company operates within the food manufacturing and distribution industry, specializing in delivering safe and quality food products to consumers while adhering to rigorous food safety regulations and standards. The organization is committed to continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, and developing a competent team through robust people strategies. This role offers full-time employment and comes with a competitive salary commensurate with experience and industry standards.
The Food Safety and Total Quality Management Lead is a pivotal role focused on managing and overseeing the development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of food safety and quality management systems within the assigned geographical location, which may include multiple districts and facilities. This role requires a strategic mindset combined with hands-on expertise to ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including USDA, FDA, and international food safety standards such as SQF and other customer-specific requirements.
The successful candidate will lead and support site operations teams through coaching and management, enabling them to uphold the highest food safety and quality standards. This includes validating and verifying adherence to governmental food standards and implementing the sanitation programs at various facilities. The role also involves actively identifying and addressing training needs related to food safety, quality, health, and sanitation.
Additionally, this position requires collaborating with site senior management to embed continuous improvement processes into the food safety and total quality management systems, thereby enhancing their effectiveness. The role demands a proactive approach to resolving food safety and quality concerns promptly and ensuring that all procedures, including product hold processes, are properly implemented and monitored in collaboration with inventory control and regional teams.
This position offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional with a background in food safety regulatory environments, ideally with multi-site responsibility experience. It requires a strong foundation in food safety legislation, risk management principles, and preventive controls. The role suits individuals who are adaptable, able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, and who possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, especially when dealing with site management and internal or external customers.
The role also necessitates significant fieldwork, spending up to 70% of time at warehouse sites working directly with site management teams. The physical demands include the ability to work in various environments and conditions, including challenging temperatures, and performing tasks requiring manual dexterity and mobility. The successful candidate must be a self-starter who thrives independently and is capable of responding effectively to feedback and changing demands.
Overall, this role is ideal for a dedicated professional passionate about food safety and continuous quality improvement, seeking to make a significant impact within a reputable organization that values compliance, integrity, and people development.
