Job Description

LA28 is the independent, non-profit, privately funded organizing committee responsible for planning and executing the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Established with a powerful mission to showcase the vibrant city of Los Angeles and the United States on a global stage, LA28 is committed to delivering an unparalleled and historic experience for athletes, fans, partners, and the local community. The 2028 Summer Games represent a monumental event, marking the return of the Olympics to the U.S. for the first time in 32 years and the first ever Paralympic Games hosted in Los Angeles. With Los Angeles hosting the Games for the third time, LA28 aims to build on a legendary legacy while pushing new boundaries to advance the Olympic and Paralympic Movements.

With a team-driven, inclusive ethos, LA28 values optimism, integrity, excellence, inclusion, co-creation, and boldness. The organization believes creating a transformative world-class event requires diverse perspectives, expertise, and collaboration. LA28 is dedicated to building a workforce that reflects these guiding principles and is passionate about crafting an unforgettable Olympic experience that unites and inspires.

The Manager, Event & Venue Management, will play a critical role within the Event and Venue Management (EVM) team, which is tasked with integrated operational planning and management at all competition venues and several non-competition venues throughout the Games. This leadership position requires overseeing the operational planning and delivery for a select cluster of competition venues. The Manager will act as a key liaison and facilitator among multiple functional areas, driving cross-functional operational integration and ensuring that all venue operations align with the Games’ strategic objectives.

Responsibilities extend through various project phases, including planning, readiness, and operational execution during the Games. The Manager will work closely with Functional Areas (FAs) to negotiate operational solutions, create cohesive event operational plans, manage test events execution, and oversee comprehensive stakeholder engagement such as site visits and service level agreements. At Games-time, the Manager leads venue operations behind-the-scenes (BOH), manages client services for Press, Broadcast, and Games Family client groups, and coordinates staffing and issue resolution to maintain seamless venue functionality.

This role demands an experienced professional with a proven history of managing large-scale, multifaceted event operations, exceptional stakeholder management skills, and the ability to lead diverse high-performing teams. The Manager will report initially to the Head of Venues & Sports before liaising directly with a venue's Event General Manager during Games-time. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience is required, alongside 5 or more years of event or venue management experience. Candidates should be adept at strategic thinking, problem solving, and influencing cross-functional teams within complex organizational structures.

Situated in Los Angeles, this role requires in-person attendance with occasional travel to various venues around the Los Angeles region. The work environment is dynamic with varying hours, often including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods. The annual base salary range for this position is $88,000 to $108,000. It’s important to note that LA28 does not provide relocation assistance.

Joining LA28 means becoming part of a meaningful journey to shape the future of Los Angeles through the Olympic and Paralympic Movements, contributing to an event that celebrates community, athletic excellence, and the cultural significance of the Games.
