Job Description

Lamar University, located in Beaumont, Texas, is a comprehensive educational institution dedicated to nurturing academic excellence and fostering innovation across various disciplines. The university places a strong emphasis on advancing economic development in its regional community, particularly through entrepreneurship and innovation. Central to these efforts is the Venture Center, a vital hub within Lamar University committed to expanding economic opportunities in Southeast Texas by supporting entrepreneurial ventures and innovation ecosystems.

This full-time staff position, reporting to the Provost & VP Academic Affairs, offers an annual salary range between $52,446 and $68,180, reflecting the university's commitment to attracting qualified professionals dedicated to impactful work. The role of Manager for Entrepreneurship Programs is a strategic and operational leadership position within the Venture Center, designed to advance its mission by developing and managing entrepreneurship programs that engage students, faculty, staff, and the broader entrepreneurial community.

The Manager is responsible for overseeing program execution, event management, and marketing and communications strategies, ensuring these efforts effectively foster an entrepreneurial spirit within the campus and the surrounding region. The role requires an individual capable of designing compelling storytelling content and digital presence to highlight entrepreneurial activities. This includes creating newsletters, managing social media platforms, and enhancing the Venture Center’s website content with a sharp focus on search engine optimization and web accessibility standards.

Event strategy and management form a significant portion of the responsibilities, with the Manager overseeing major entrepreneurship events like pitch competitions, workshops, and community-oriented initiatives. Managing all logistical aspects—from budgeting and vendor coordination to volunteer supervision and participant communications—is essential to delivering high-quality, impactful events that serve the goals of the Venture Center.

Operational and administrative duties are also critical in this role. The Manager will handle registration systems, document workflows, budgeting, and purchasing while providing leadership to student workers, interns, and part-time staff who support marketing and event operations. The position demands strong strategic thinking, independent decision-making, creativity, and the ability to juggle multiple projects in a dynamic academic environment.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree with at least three years of relevant experience, or an associate’s degree with five years of experience, complemented by proficiency in graphic design and communication tools such as Canva and Adobe Creative Suite, along with Microsoft Office and website content management systems. Prior experience in higher education, entrepreneurship programming, or economic development is highly desirable. The role is exempt from overtime and requires the ability to work on campus, collaborate effectively with various stakeholders, and occasionally participate in evening or weekend events.

Lamar University is committed to maintaining an inclusive workplace and providing equal employment opportunities. However, visa sponsorship is not available for this position, and candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Overall, this role offers a unique opportunity to influence the entrepreneurial landscape at Lamar University and throughout Southeast Texas by leading innovative programs that connect academic excellence with community engagement and economic growth. The Manager for Entrepreneurship Programs will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of entrepreneurship education and contribute to the broader mission of Lamar University to foster a vibrant and sustainable innovation ecosystem.
