Job Description

Holy Cross Hospital Salt Lake is a historic acute care hospital founded in 1875, located conveniently near the heart of Salt Lake City. Serving the residents of the Salt Lake Valley for more than a century, it has earned a reputation as one of the most trusted medical centers in Utah. The hospital is committed to providing high-quality healthcare through advanced medical expertise and compassionate care. Equipped with leading-edge technology and systems, Holy Cross Hospital aims to be the healthcare provider of choice, focusing on improving the quality of life for the individuals and communities it serves. The hospital offers a wide range of specialized services including comprehensive orthopedic care, wound care, 24/7 geriatric, psychiatric and cardiac services, life flight services, and is recognized as a state-certified heart attack center.

The role being offered is within the Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) department, where the selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining and administering culinary and nutrition services, ensuring operational needs of staff members are met effectively. This is a vital position that requires a committed individual who not only values skill but also deeply believes in contributing to a greater cause. The work environment is supportive and team-oriented, with resources available to help employees flourish and leaders who truly care about their success.

The primary functions include creating patient and retail service standards, conducting sanitation and performance audits, and identifying learning opportunities for staff. The position involves enforcing purchasing agreements, assisting with compliance audits, and maintaining regulatory compliance and infection control practices. The role also requires overseeing patient non-interactive positions such as storeroom clerks and cooks and ensuring smooth communication between staff and customers to promote high patient satisfaction.

Frequent patient rounding and visits are an essential part of the job to ensure superior service quality. The candidate will be expected to engage in collaboration for menu development across patient, cafeteria, and catering services, prioritizing culinary excellence, sustainability, and food waste reduction. Additional responsibilities include participating in hospital committees and organizing special event menus and catering, sometimes requiring travel between campuses.

This position demands leadership in managing staff recruitment, hiring, performance reviews, work assignments, and maintaining adequate staffing levels. The successful candidate will be proactive in conducting job shadowing audits, providing coaching, and ensuring service standards are consistently met.

With an emphasis on humankindness and a passion for patient-centered service, this role at Holy Cross Hospital Salt Lake offers a rewarding career opportunity in a thriving community. Employees benefit from a workplace rich in history and excellence with access to a vibrant outdoor lifestyle, including parks, canyons, winter sports, climbing, backpacking, and the breathtaking Wasatch range of the Rocky Mountains.
